Process for the production of temperature change resistant magnesite bricks.
The invention relates to a method for producing magnesite bricks which are resistant to temperature changes.
It is already known to manufacture stones that are resistant to temperature fluctuations by using certain types of grain with grain flecks. However, these known stones show cut-off numbers with a large scatter. Another disadvantage is that a simultaneous good mechanical and slag strength cannot be reliably achieved.
It has now been found that bricks with good thermal shock resistance, which do not have the other disadvantages of the known bricks or have less or less, can be obtained if the bricks are made from two magnesites which differ in their iron content. It has been shown, for example, that the good properties of the stones are improved if a magnesite is used for the fine flour, which has a lower iron content than the material for the coarse grain. If you use a magnesite with an iron for the coarse grain
EMI1.1
and iron-rich types should correspond to about 2-4% FeOs, based on the total mass. It has been shown that if you use a very low-iron white magnesite for the low-iron material, the effect drops again.
The measures according to the invention can be used in combination with the most varied of other measures which are known per se for the production of magnesite bricks which are resistant to temperature changes. Particularly good results are obtained when the stones are produced using fine powder and coarse grain with 6-30%, preferably 10-20%, chrome ore, based on the weight of the stone. In an important embodiment, the chrome ore forms only part of the coarse grain, while the fine meal accordingly consists entirely of magnesite. 10-50 parts, preferably 10-35 parts of fine powdered magnesite and 50-90 parts, preferably 65-90 parts of chrome ore and coarse magnesite grains are used.
In carrying out the invention, magnesite is ground in a known manner and the coarse chromium ore grain is mixed with it as evenly as possible, and further coarse magnesite grain if necessary.
In individual cases, the addition of the individual components can change within the specified intervals, depending on the particular requirements that have to be met with regard to pressure softening, sheet resistance, resistance to temperature changes.
In some cases it is useful to add a small amount of clay.
Other additives or binders known per se for refractory bricks can also be added in customary amounts, such as organic binders, compounds of alkaline earths and the like. like. more.
The stones according to the invention can also be produced for many purposes in the unfired state and installed as such.
