Handgalvanisier-Apparat.

Hand electroplating apparatus.
The common electroplating systems are largely based on the bath principle, i. That is, one is forced to dismantle the objects to be processed in order to bring them into the tub. Large metal objects cause considerable difficulties, both with regard to their assembly and with regard to their placement in the bathroom itself. These disadvantages are eliminated when using hand-held electroplating apparatus. There are already some systems of such devices, but these have not yet been introduced to any particular extent in practice, be it because of their complicated design, because of structural defects or because of their operational uncertainty. The device according to the invention does not have such disadvantages, it is simple in construction and can be used at any time with full operational reliability.
The device can be built in two embodiments which differ in the anode arrangement. In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the strip or rod-shaped anode 12 consisting of the metal to be deposited extends continuously through the electrolyte chamber 2 into the lower part of the anode head filled with metal powder 4. The metal powder is directly adjacent to the felt cover 5 of the device; Above the metal powder, the anode head is filled with a felt insert surrounding the anode. This is supported against a sieve 11 and presses elastically on the metal powder so that it tries to adapt to the shape of the goods to be coated.
This results in an even distribution of the wires on the surface to be treated. This anode can be exchanged for the respective metal coating.
The electrolyte space 2 is delimited at the bottom by the sieve mentioned and has a regulating valve 6 at the top, the one-time setting of which ensures a continuous supply of electrolyte during the electrolysis. The anode 12 is guided through the electrolyte space in a sealed manner and is connected to the positive pole of the current source J. The latter is in the upper part of the z. B. housed rod-shaped apparatus. The spring 8 brings about the connection of the negative pole of the power source to the terminal 10.
The second embodiment according to FIG. 2 differs from the first only in that the anode 12 does not extend into the metal powder 4. In this case, the anode acts as a kind of center conductor. This arrangement has the advantage that short circuits are avoided if, for example, metal powder were to penetrate through the felt cover.
Operation: The tap 6 attached to the space 2 filled with the corresponding electrolyte is set so that the anode 1 becomes moist. The cathode 10 is connected to the object to be processed and the anode with the felt-spanned elastic part is pressed against the meticulously cleaned bare metal object.
This closes the circuit. Foaming is observed on the contact surface. One strokes slowly and evenly over the metal object. The anode, which is covered with felt, allows even heavily profiled objects to be perfectly covered with metal thanks to its conformability.
