EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

EMI1.1
The connection of the base of the electron tubes with the supply and discharge is usually made by a number of Steekers pins to which the wires emerging from the tube are connected and which are pressed into corresponding sockets of a socket. However, the expansion of the connector pins in the direction of the tube neck means that a certain minimum
EMI1.2
is of importance.
It has therefore already been proposed to attach current-carrying contacts for the base to the circumference of the cylindrical tubular base. The socket is then provided with springs which are pressed down by the contacts on the circumference of the socket when the lamp is lowered into the tube socket.
Although the overall height is reduced by the height in such a construction, such arrangements have various considerable disadvantages. In particular, a relatively complicated manufacturing process results. as the wires emerging from the tube with those on the circumference
EMI1.3
is closed by a base in order to prevent the penetration of (sometimes conductive) particles, which would promote the occurrence of leakage currents, the connection of the wires to the contacts located on the circumference of the base is difficult to carry out. However, the wires can only be guided on the outside in the corresponding grooves in the cover so as not to stress the wires when they are inserted, which spoils their appearance.
Therefore, such skirting boards have not been able to become naturalized.
The subject of the present invention is a base of the specified type. In which, however, the disadvantages mentioned are completely avoided. For this purpose, the contacts that have to rest against the springs of the socket are designed as rigid contact pieces. with radially outwardly projecting heads and inwardly into the cylindrical cavity of the base projecting extensions. in which there are holes drilled in the axial direction of the pipe
EMI1.4
Radial contact blocks penetrate either the bottom or end plate of the base in this way. that they establish a connection between the interior of the base and the exterior. or they are opposite axially drilled holes in the base plate in such a way that they form their continuation.
In addition, each of the contacts advantageously has a longitudinal groove or groove into which the end of the wire inserted through the hole can be inserted for the purpose of soldering.
A base of this type enables a particularly simplified manufacturing process for the tube. The ends of the connecting wires emerging from the pinch feet of the tube are brought into an appropriate position with the help of a gauge, so that when the base is brought up in the axial direction, i.e. when simply plugging it in the correct position, they fall into the axial holes through which Pass holes in the radial inner extensions of the contacts. Their ends can then be bent over and inserted into the grooves.
It is particularly advantageous to fasten the radial contacts in such a way that they protrude freely downwards from the base of the base, that is to say are only partially sunk into the base. In this case, the wires are folded into the grooves and the wire ends can be attached to the contacts by dip soldering, i.e. H. by
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
simply dipping the base into the heated solder. Such an attachment of rigid contacts with a substantially radial extent also requires a redesign of the
EMI2.1
to secure the scope.
The usual longitudinal springs are used for this purpose. that the lower end of the same is slidably mounted, whereby each of the projecting contact heads shifts the associated contact spring itself, as far as necessary, and whereby a particularly tight fit can also be achieved by virtue of the inclined position of the springs. as a downward component of the spring force prevents lifting.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention. With 1 is

Contacts ; ; sunk, which are provided with radial projections inward and radially protruding heads. The radial inner extensions are with a hole. J, to which a hole in the wind plate 5 corresponds, unless the contact is attached at such a point that the upper part of the extension is above the base plate. The contacts:; also have a groove 6 at their lower end in which the end of a wire passing through the hole is inserted.
If, as can be seen from FIG. the lower surfaces of the contacts below the socket
EMI2.3
to solder the bent ends of the wire passing through the hole
The rigid radially protruding heads of the contacts, which protrude a corresponding piece. allow a particularly good hold of the tube in the socket, as well as correct contact on all sides. For this purpose, the springs 7, which are known to be elastic in the radial direction and on which the contacts rest, are free at their lower end in an opening 8 of the socket inserted so
EMI2.4
Contacts therefore produce a balanced contact and, to a particularly high degree, hold the tube in place.
