Protective device for electrical systems.
The patent 131490 'relates to a protection circuit for electrical systems, in which only one of the two grounded branches is switched off in the event of a double earth fault, and the like. This is achieved by the fact that in each station of the current-dependent monitoring relays in several phases, in the event of a double earth fault, all but one, which is connected to the same phase in all stations, are blocked in such a way that they are independent of whether they have a short-circuit magnitude are energized, cannot trigger the associated station. Distance-dependent relays can also serve as monitoring relays, which actuate their contacts with different trigger times depending on the location of the fault location.
According to the exemplary embodiment of the main application, the relays are blocked from being triggered in that the actuation of the contacts is rendered ineffective, in particular by a relay that responds to a double earth fault interrupting the triggering circuit.
However, this is only sufficient to bring about sufficient selectivity if the fault current only ever occurs in a single phase of each station.
In meshed networks, however, this is not the case, as is shown for example in FIG. 1 on a ring network. The ring network is fed by a generator G at one point and passed through the stations A, B, C. If the switch 0, which is arranged between the collar C, is closed, that is to say if the ring is established, then in the event of a double earth fault in all stations overcurrents occur in both phases affected by the earth fault.
Let us assume, for example, that a ground fault occurs at point R1 in phase R, at point 81 in phase 8, then there are two paths for the fault current: From phase S of generator G the fault current divides to the right and through the ring to the left and take the path clockwise along the simply drawn arrow to the earth fault point <S'i, through the earth to point Ri and from here back to machine G.
The second path initially runs along the double arrow in the opposite direction through the ring to point 81 to point Rr and from here back to machine G. It can therefore be seen that the fault current occurs in both phases around 8 in all stations - and in Station B even in the same direction and, given a corresponding location of the fault locations R1 and 81, even in the same or approximately the same size. As a result, the device according to the main patent would fail.
In order to still be able to bring about a selective disconnection, according to the invention, the relays dependent on the features of a double earth fault operate switching devices which prevent the tripping current from being reached in the current winding of the relays to be blocked.
This is done by the switching devices bypassing the converter windings and, if necessary, at the same time interrupting the circuit of the relay windings or disconnecting them from the converter circuit.
In Fig. 2, an embodiment of the invention is shown. The current transformers in phases R and T feed two excitation elements a and b as well as the current coil 1 of a distance relay, which is connected to the current transformer in a differential circuit. The voltage coil 2 of the distance relay is normally short-circuited via contacts al and b1 actuated by relays a and b, via an impedance e *) First additional patent no. 133840, second additional patent no. 133843.

is made. It applies its contacts i4 from S to 0. The contacts and b1 switch the voltage coil to r and t, which are the corresponding terminals of a voltage converter 3.
In the case of a two-pole short circuit between R S and S T and in the case of double earth faults, the impedance z is used to roughly halve the portion of the voltage applied to the voltage winding 2 so that the tripping times are the same in all cases. In the event of a short circuit between R S and S T and corresponding double earth faults, no switching takes place in the circuit. In the event of a double earth fault between R and T, the current transformer of phase T is now disconnected from the connection by a relay c responding in the case of a double earth fault RT, which can be designed in the same way as in the exemplary embodiment of patent 131490 and the second additional patent 133843 with the protective device 'disconnected and short-circuited.
As a result, only the R phase current and the RO voltage act correctly in the protective device. The changeover contacts of the voltage circuit only actuate a1 and i4, since relay b receives no current. The result is that constant tripping times are set for all types of faults, because the switchovers are made in the circuit itself. If, in the event of an earth fault between R and T, no switchings were made in the circuit, then it would not be the short-circuit current but a much smaller current value that would take effect in the current windings of the distance relay; it could even be that both currents cancel each other out at all.
The distance relays would therefore not respond with the required short tripping time. The selectivity of the protective device would be at risk. The device of the invention is therefore also particularly suitable when only a single distance relay is provided which is connected to a current transformer in a differential circuit.
The relay c, which is dependent on the feature of a double earth fault, can of course also, like the second additional patent 133843 vdrsohläo "t, * be influenced by two voltages of the three-phase system, in particular by two linked voltages or by the same and opposing component of the three-current system of that phase which is not influenced by the double earth fault when it occurs.
