Multi-motor drive by means of asynchronous motors, in particular for card sets.
EMI1.1
It is not absolutely necessary to maintain synchronous running of the motors during operation. The speeds can deviate from one another to a certain extent, since this only results in a constant delay in the transfer of the nonwoven without any further difficulties being noticeable. However, the individual speeds must remain constant.
It is known to achieve the uniform behavior of the motors during start-up and operation through their parallel connection on both the stator and rotor sides; the stator are next to each other on a common network, while the rotors are also connected in parallel and have a common starting resistor. The smooth run-up of the motors is guaranteed with this circuit, since a sufficiently high synchronizing torque is present in the common rotor circuit due to the more or less switched on starting resistor.
Even in operation, i.e. with a short-circuited starting resistor, there is no noticeable change in the speed ratio of the motors, since the motors run with very little slip, so that with the load deviations that occur among the individual machines, noteworthy speed imbalances do not occur.
However, difficulties arise when the unit runs out. As a result of the different moments of inertia of the individual machines under certain circumstances, their run-down times may be different. It is therefore necessary to provide a special circuit for stopping, in which the motors, as already proposed, are forced to stop evenly and, advantageously, are braked at the same time to achieve short stopping times.
EMI1.2
Card sets in which, in a known manner, when the unit is switched off, one stator phase of the motors is disconnected from the network while the common rotor resistance is switched on.
In this circuit, the motors exert a powerful braking force and run down completely evenly in a very short time. Only after they have come to a complete standstill are the motors completely disconnected from the mains. According to the invention, the control device has a special braking stage behind the stop positions for operation, from which it can be switched directly to the zero position in the same direction of rotation.

resistance, which in the present case is also two-phase in accordance with the use of two-phase rotors; however, motors with three-phase rotors can of course also be used. k is the common star switch.

In position 2, point x of the starting resistor is above the contact finger of the same name. the coating of the control waixe and the contact finger 1'1 are connected to the tap 1'1 of the starting resistor, so that part of the starting resistor is short-circuited.
In position 3 it is through

Connection of point r1 with contact finger r2 short-circuited another part of the starting resistor, while in position 4 the entire starting resistor is short-circuited by connecting contact fingers u, n to point x. The drive has now reached continuous operation.
If the system is to be braked, the control roller is in the position. ? emotional. The stator phase '<' is separated from the mains phase T and at the same time the common starting resistor in the rotor current is switched on. The controller is designed in this way. that he's from the brake level. 5 can be moved further in the same direction of rotation to the position zero. The braking levels are therefore not on the first switching level of the controller and are therefore not affected at all when the drive is switched on. This is avoided. Difficulties arise when restarting the motors at the first switching stage, in which the stator is only connected to the mains in one phase.
That is when these arise. if, for example, by turning the shift drum back too early from

have run, so that the runners are initially shifted in their phase position when restarting. When switching through the braking stage in front of the starting stages, in which the motors are only connected to the mains in one phase. In this case the motors would oscillate. The arrangement of the braking stage between the operating position and zero position eliminates the need to switch through the braking stage when starting the engines, so that the difficulties described are avoided.
