In Fig. 1 bedeutet :
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
spricht.

Device for the remote transmission of pointer positions.
For the purpose of remote transmission of pointer positions, a device operating essentially according to the principle of the so-called slow regulator known for voltage regulation of electrical machines has become known. It works in such a way that the pointer of the output measuring mechanism is equipped with a contact spring which works together with a double contact carried by a moving coil instrument whose axis is in the extension of that of the output measuring mechanism. A servo motor is started when one or the other side of the double contact is touched. which adjusts the sliding contact of a resistor until the current flowing through this resistor, which is conducted via the moving coil instrument, rotates the moving coil in the sense of opening the closed contact.
The moving coil is set to an angle corresponding to the pointer deflection and the current can be measured via a long-distance line at the receiving location and is proportional to the pointer position.
This device has the disadvantage that it can only follow the changes in the measured variables relatively slowly, i.e. H. the particularly interesting rapid movements of the measuring pointer are not transmitted in time and therefore no counting instruments can be attached to the receiving point. In addition, the motor equipment required to adjust the resistance is relatively expensive.
In contrast, the present invention relates to a device that works according to the so-called fast regulator principle, which works without a servo motor, is therefore much cheaper than the one described above, and is also practically inertial, so that both rapid changes in the position of the transmitter pointer are transmitted at the correct time, and remote counting is possible is.
An embodiment according to the invention is described below. The drawing contains in FIG. 1 the arrangement of the essential components, in FIG. 2 the course of the long-distance line currents over time, in FIG. 3 the course of the forces acting on the transmission apparatus, depending on the pointer position to be transmitted, in FIG 3 according to the diagram for the case that the measuring instrument has the zero point in the middle of its scale, that is, is set up for positive and negative deflections, and in FIG. 5 a special design of the contact device.
In Fig. 1:
1 a pointer instrument as the output measuring mechanism, 2 the spiral spring of the instrument, 3 a compensation instrument, e.g. a moving coil instrument, 4 the axis of the moving coil instrument, 5 a contact spring on the axis 4, 6 a fixed contact, 7 a fixed stop opposite the contact ss. 8 a tension spring, 9 a network (for example consisting of capacitor 10, chokes 11 and resistors 12), as it is known as four-pole in telegraph technology, 13 a battery, 14 the long-distance line and 15 the receiving instrument.
The torque transmitted by the spring 2 strives to close the contact 5, 6, the compensation instrument 3 acts in the opposite direction. In the basic description, no consideration is initially given to the tension spring 8, since it is only important for the transmission of the pointer position zero and the zero transmission will be dealt with in detail later.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In addition, the mode of operation is explained with reference to FIG. 2: There the time course of the current flowing in the long-distance line is plotted. The initial state is arbitrarily assumed that contacts 5, 6 (Fig. 1) are closed and the current in the long-distance circuit is zero. The current in this circle then initially rises according to a curve a, which is determined by the voltage of the battery 13, the sizes of the inductances 11 and the resistors 12 in the quadrupole 9. If the value il is exceeded, which corresponds to the torque transmitted by the spiral spring 2 to the axis 4 of the moving coil instrument, a resulting torque acts on the axis 4 in the sense of contact opening.
Contact 5 ,. 6 is therefore opened again at a current above the value il, for example at current i ", so that the uncharged capacitor is switched on in the circuit. As a result, the current must drop again, and between a curve b, which also passes through The electrical constants of the circuit are essentially determined by those of the quadrupole, with the current value i1 falling below the equilibrium state, and contacts 5 and 6 again if the value is lower than i, e.g. made what the game. which consists in alternating over- and under-control of the transformer current, repeated in the manner described.
The current flowing in the moving coil instrument and in the long-distance line oscillates around a value that can be viewed as a measure for the pointer position. The path that the contact spring 5 can cover is limited by a stop 7. The free path of the spring 5 determined by this will expediently be kept as small as possible.
By dimensioning the sizes of the quadrupole, as can be seen from the above, the frequency of the contact can be set to a value that the moving coil of the compensation system can follow without any problems. On the other hand, the purpose of the artificial increase in the time constant of the long-distance line circuit brought about by the quadrupole is to make the apparatus useful for transmission lines of different properties or different lengths without the slightest modification.
Moving-coil instruments are preferred as receiving instruments in the device described, which, as is known, only display the amount of direct current in a current consisting of direct and alternating current components.
The device described works perfectly as long as the difference between the torques of the spring 2 and the moving coil instrument 3 is large enough to actuate the contact spring 5. This is obviously no longer the case at the zero point and in the vicinity thereof. H. the measured variable zero cannot be transmitted at all, very small measured variables only unreliable or imprecise.
According to the invention, this is eliminated in that the spring 8 is inserted in FIG. 1.
The influence of this spring is explained in FIG. 3. Depending on the position of the pointer to be transmitted, the torques acting in the sense of contact closure are plotted upwards. The moment of spring 2 is denoted by 111z, that of spring 8 by iKg. The sum of these two moments, denoted by JMg + Mg, must be weighed by the moving coil instrument, i.e. H. the moment to be applied by the moving-coil instrument acting in the sense of the contact opening runs depending on the pointer deflection along the straight line 1114. It is the straight line M2 + M8 mirrored on the abscissa axis. Because with a moving coil instrument the torque is proportional to the current.
the straight line 1114 is at the same time the remotely transmitted current intensity, depending on the pointer position.
The receiving instrument can be adapted to the changed transmitter equipment by giving its spiral spring such a preload that with the finite basic current meaning zero, the receiving pointer plays on the zero point of the scale.
An interruption in the long-distance line or any fault in the transmission equipment which leads to the disappearance of the basic current is then at hand at the receiving station
EMI2.1
Displays instruments with the zero point in the middle of the scale. The torque diagram corresponding to FIG. 3 is shown in FIG. 4. JMa is again the torque transmitted by the spiral spring of the output measuring mechanism, M8 that of the tension spring. The latter is to be taken so large that even at the negative end of the scale the sum of both (straight lines M2 + M3) still acts in the sense of making contacts. The fact that the straight line M2 + Mg runs exactly as in FIG. 3 in this figure shows that the long-range transmission proceeds in the same way as according to FIG. 3.
In order to improve the contact conditions and to ensure uniform operation, the contact device can also be built in such a way that it only attaches to the compensation system and vice versa when there is a certain excess of force in the measuring system.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
speaks. A corresponding design of the contact device is shown in FIG. 5. 16 is a permanent magnet, 4 the axis of the compensation system, 5 the movable contact spring attached to it, 6 the spatially fixed contact.
The spring 5 also carries a small piece of iron 17. Since the piece of iron is held firmly evenly by the north or south pole of the magnet 16, depending on the position of the spring, the contact device is always actuated only then. if the difference between the torques of the compensation system and the measuring system or vice versa has a certain size.
In order to avoid the pulsations in the long-distance line, which are disturbing in some cases, a throttle chain with one or more links can advantageously be switched on at the transmitter station in front of the long-distance line.
It is expedient to dimension the components of the quadrupole 9 and the voltage of the battery 13 in such a way that the current rise and fall between two contact actuations runs approximately in a straight line. Since the instrument 15 displays the arithmetic mean value of the compensation current, the display is thus largely independent of any fluctuations in the voltage of the battery 13.
The device can also be made so that the current of the remote transmission circuit is not controlled directly by the contact spring attached to the compensation system, but via an intermediate relay. One then achieves the advantage of being independent of the contact with the choice of current intensity and voltage in the remote transmission circuit.
The new device thus relates to the remote transmission of pointer positions of instruments with zero point at the beginning or in the middle of the scale with alternating over- and under-control of the long-distance line current. for the reasons discussed, the transmission takes place with a certain basic current.
