Device for influencing a light-sensitive cell from a radiation transmitter.
If a light-sensitive cell, for example a selenium cell, is to be influenced by a radiation transmitter, such as a headlight or a mirror illuminated by a lamp, the radiation transmitter is usually mapped onto the cell by an optical system in order to have the greatest possible amount of light on the light-sensitive cell to be let. This device has also been used when the cell is to be influenced while it is moving across the bundle of rays affecting it, in which case, of course, the system which images the radiation transmitter has to be firmly connected to the mobile cell.
In this case, however, the device has the disadvantage that when the cell is moved, the image of the radiation transmitter moves on the cell, so that either only part of the cell opening could be filled with light rays, or the radiation transmitter was so large on the cell had to depict that part of the light always went unused to the cell.
Both are undesirable.
According to the invention, the disadvantage can be avoided by connecting a two-part optical system to the cell, one of which, the part facing the radiation transmitter, is used to image the radiation transmitter at the location of the second part, while the other part is used for this purpose to draw a picture of the opening of the first part on the light-sensitive cell so that the usable area of this cell is just filled with light. Then the image of the radiation transmitter moves on the second imaging part, but this no longer means a disadvantage if you only ensure that this part is large enough. The image drawn on the light-sensitive cell, on the other hand, stands still despite the movement and the cell can always be fully illuminated.
In the drawing, for example, a device corresponding to the invention is shown schematically, which is intended to be mounted on a railroad train to which characters are to be transmitted from a light source arranged on the route. A selenium cell a is to be influenced by a headlight c equipped with an incandescent lamp b, while the cell moves in the direction of the light bundle emitted by the headlight

which is composed of two parts d and e, of which the first-mentioned part consists of one and the last-mentioned part of two converging lenses. The system part labeled cl maps the opening of the headlight c on the part e and this in turn the opening of the part d on the cell a.
As can be readily seen, when the device containing the cell n and the imaging system d, e is moved, the image of the headlight opening migrates on the lenses e, while a stationary image is generated on the cell a.
If, as in this case, the device is only ever moved in one and the same direction, then the lenses of part e can also be designed in strips, namely narrower transversely to the direction of movement than in the direction of movement.
