und deren Ausnutzung verbessert (vgl. Fig. 4).

and their utilization improved (see. Fig. 4). This is a consequence of the action of the suction throttles, which consists in the fact that certain groups of harmonics in the phase currents are caused by the reactance of the
Suction throttle coils are suppressed.
In the case of windings on direct current motors with self-contained circles (see Fig. 1 and 2), it must be prevented that compensating currents arise in the self-contained circles due to the field system. In order to achieve this, theoretically the induced circulating voltage in each of these circles must be zero at every moment, i.e. H. the spatial field curve must not contain any harmonics whose total voltage in the closed circuits of the winding differs from zero. The order of these harmonics to be suppressed is clearly defined by the shape of the voltage vector polygons of the closed circles.
The commutation of the working current in a sector of the working winding between two adjacent feed points is the easier the smaller the self-inductance of the relevant sector. Since, on the other hand, during commutation by controlled valves, the number of valves is very small compared to the number of commutator lamellae usually present at high voltages, the self-inductance of the individual winding sectors is very high. It is therefore important to reduce the now very large self-inductance of the switching sectors to a minimum in order to facilitate commutation. A damper winding that is coupled as closely as possible to the commutating weighing sector is suitable for this purpose.
Since the latter remains in an unchanged mutual position in relation to the field system, apart from small periodic fluctuations, it is advisable to apply this damper coil in the form of a short-circuited coil on the field system so that it is as close as possible to the commutating winding sector of the working winding is coupled. Then the variation of the current in the latter during the commutation will cause an induction current in the damper circuit, through the effect of which the resulting self-inductance of the commutating winding sector of the working circuit is lowered to a small fraction of its previous value.
This damper winding can also be designed as a primary winding for generating the auxiliary alternating current in the commutating oscillation sectors. This is then connected to the auxiliary AC power source when the engine is started. As soon as the motor has reached a certain number of revolutions, the winding is switched off by the auxiliary alternating current source and short-circuited in order to act as a damper winding. This damper winding is appropriately constructed from several parallel-connected current branches which are distributed over the entire zone covered by the commutating oscillating parts over the field system during the commutation.
