<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Arrangement for telegraph systems.
The present invention relates to an arrangement for telegraph systems in which the telegraph lines, when no message is being sent over them, are earthed at both ends. If signs are sent over one of these telegraph lines, a battery must be connected to one end of the line. The connection is required to be carried out immediately when a message is transmitted over the line, so that the characters sent cannot be mutilated.
To achieve this, the switch relay is designed as a polarized relay. An auxiliary relay is also provided in order to safely bring the relay to waste after the transmission of a message has ended.
Another characteristic of the invention is that in systems in which the telegraph connections run from one terminal to the other via intermediate points, it is no longer necessary to equip the telegraph lines with balancing devices.
Attached Figs. 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the invention. In Fig. 1, a transmission device is shown, consisting of the transmission contact S and the oscillating circuit, which is formed by the capacitor Co and the Widerstäild'Wi. The receiving relay ER is built into the telegraph line. It is connected to earth via a resistance Wi. The other end of the telegraph line is also grounded. The transmitter relay SR, the changeover relay UR and the auxiliary relay HR are switched on in the oscillation circuit.
The mode of operation of the arrangement is as follows:
If by opening and closing the transmitting contact S a certain number of current surges, z. B. fives generated, the dlei relays SR, HR and UR are excited according to these current surges. The three relays are polarized and therefore very sensitive. When the relay UR responds for the first time, contact 1 ur is actuated, thereby disconnecting the earth from the telegraph line and connecting it to the dual-current battery. The contact 2sr transmits the current impulses
EMI1.1
The first energization of the relay HR, the relay VR is switched on via earth, winding 1 of relay VR, normally open contact 5hr, winding 11 of relay VR, battery, earth.
Relay VR responds and switches contacts 3vr and 4vr. Relay VR remains activated while the current surge is being transmitted. The following circuit is closed for winding II of relay UR: earth, winding 11 of relay UR, normally open contact 3vr, resistance Wi, battery, earth. Is z. B. the transmission of the five-character ended, the three relays SR, HR and UR are again in their rest position. The relay VR drops out with a delay. This creates another circuit for winding 11 of relay UR
EMI1.2
The relay UR is energized in the opposite direction and drops out. The contacts 3vr and 4vr are designed in such a way that the contact 3vr is first placed around and the contact 4vr is opened only after a certain time. The contacts 3vr and 4vr thus form a known drag contact.
This ensures safe switching from battery to earth via contact 1 ur. If the
Sending out the battery of the five-draws at a certain speed, the relay UR

do not return to its rest position during the individual pauses between the five characters. As a result, the telegraph line then remains permanently connected to the double-current battery and the switchover is only carried out after the transmission of the message has ended.
In Fig. 2, the inventive device for a system is shown in which the

If a message from terminal A1 is transmitted from terminal A2, then the receiving relay ER4 transmits the current impulses to the relay SR3, the receiving relay ER3 is switched off, the telegraph line leading to the terminal JLi is switched to the double-current battery through the contact Mfg; the contact 4sr3 actuated by the transmission relay SR3 transmits the current impulses to the reception relay EjBi.
This illustration shows that in the case of a connection that runs from one terminal to the other via an intermediate point Z, no compensation devices are required at the individual telegraph stations, since the receiving relays, which are not actuated when the message is sent in a certain direction takes place, are switched off and as a result cannot respond.
The switch-off takes place by the changeover relay already described with reference to FIG. 1. Such a switch relay is assigned to each end of the telegraph line. The same is provided in an oscillating circuit and, depending on the direction of the telegraph line in which the transmission of the message is carried out, one or the other of the switching relay responds.
