Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Arrangement to reduce the power loss in the line simulations of two-wire amplifiers.
In two-wire amplifiers for telephone lines, equalizing transformers with symmetrical winding halves have been used so far, which deliver the amplified power in equal parts to the outgoing line and to the line simulation. The power component in the simulation is lost and these losses result in undesirable attenuation. The loss in the replica is particularly unpleasant because it only occurs behind the amplifier tube and puts uselessly under load. Due to the arrangement according to the invention, the losses in such two-wire amplifiers are significantly reduced.
According to the invention, the equalizing transformer is designed asymmetrically in such a way that the impedance of the line simulation can be increased accordingly without disturbing the equalization. This naturally reduces the losses in the replica accordingly. The winding part of the equalizing transformer assigned to the simulation accordingly has a greater number of turns than the winding part assigned to the outgoing line. Now a smaller part of the power on the replica side in the equalizing transformer causes the same magnetization that just cancels that due to the current going into the line. The effect of the equalizing transformer is therefore retained with smaller power losses.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. An arrangement for reducing the power losses in the line simulations of two-wire amplifiers, characterized in that the equalizing transformer is designed asymmetrically so that the impedance of the line simulation can be increased over that of the outgoing line.
