Elektrisches Kontrollsystem.

<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Electrical control system.
The invention relates to electrical control arrangements which serve to keep a characteristic operating variable of a system or a machine constant or at a predetermined value.
This is achieved according to the invention in that two types of alternating voltages are applied to the electrodes of an electron tube; The frequency of one alternating voltage changes as a function of the characteristic variable of a system or machine to be kept within predetermined limits, while the second alternating voltage comes from a power source, the frequency of which is determined by a mechanical vibration device (tuning fork) and which strives to generate voltages normal or constant frequency, with each change in the phase position of the two alternating voltages, a current is generated in a control circuit which-keeps the variable to be controlled within predetermined limits.
In view of the fact that mechanical vibrators, e.g. B. have tuning fork very large frequency selectability and the operation of the arrangement is dependent on the phase difference between two AC voltages, the invention using these two means allows a more precise control than was previously possible.
The invention is described below as applied to regulating the speed of a dynamo machine, but the invention is not restricted to this type of application cited as an example.
As soon as the speed of the machine to be controlled is such that the two frequencies mentioned above are the same, but in phase opposition, no current flows through the connected control circuit.
As soon as there is a change in speed, however, there is a relative phase shift between the two alternating voltages, as a result of which positive potentials on the two cold electrodes coincide for a short time in each period, so that a current can flow.
The arrangement is made so that the required constant speed of the machine is maintained at a specific current value. When the speed increases or decreases, a current flows for correction purposes.
1 of the drawing shows a shunt motor with magnetic poles 1. The shunt field winding 2 is via a switch. ? connected to the power source 3. The armature 6 is connected via the brush 5 and the starting resistor 4. Two commutator segments standing apart by 180 electrical degrees lead alternating current into the circuit 7 by means of slip rings 8 and 9. This alternating voltage in the circuit 7 is impressed by the transformer 24 of the additional excitation winding 10 of the motor via the anode circuit of the electron tube 13. The excitation winding 10 is arranged so that it supports the winding 2 when the motor speed increases, but counteracts the former when the speed decreases.
In the shunt to winding 10 is a
EMI1.1
and forms a tuned oscillating circuit with winding 10 in order to supply the control currents more effectively. The tuning fork 18, which is advantageously caused to vibrate by means of a magnet 19 excited by the alternating current drawn from the machine 1 in the circuit 7, generates vibrations in the circuit 21 by means of the generator coil 20, which are transmitted to the grid 16 and the filament (cathode) 14 of the Electron tube 13 are pressed. This tuning fork circle has a high degree of selectability and has a sharp resonance characteristic.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The tuning fork vibrates normally at a frequency that is roughly in the middle of its resonance curve and is the same as the frequency of the alternating voltage taken from the machine, however, due to the damping effect of the tuning fork, the pulses generated in circuit 21 are not quite 180 out of phase with the former Impulses. This creates a time period in each period in which both the grid and the anode of the discharge device are positive. In this case, a current flows through the discharge device 13 and also goes through the winding 10.
As soon as the frequency of the machine increases, so does the tuning fork frequency, i. H. it moves to a higher point on its resonance curve, which is why its effectiveness as an energy transmitter is also improved. This also makes the potential pulsations printed on the grid-cathode circuit larger. For this reason, the grid potential at this time becomes when
Grid and cathode are positive, increased so that the current in the control circuit 10 increases.
As soon as the speed of the machine decreases, the opposite effect occurs. The increase in the current in the field winding 10 reduces the speed of the machine and a decrease in the current in this control winding has the opposite effect. Thus, the change in the speed of the machine causes a current to develop which tends to restore normal conditions in the system.
The source 22 for the grid potential is set in such a way that all values of the printed alternating current potential act to change the value of the impulse current that flows in the circuit 12 during the half-periods (halves of a cycle) in which positive potentials are printed on the anode.
The above operating states can be seen from the diagram shown in FIG. 2. detect. This shows the change in potential of the anode and the grid of the tubes-M (Fig. 1) with respect to time under various conditions as given below.
The curve g (Fig. 2) represents the potential of the anode during the beats of the printed
Stream; h is the curve of the grid potential at that time. The frequency in both cases g and h is the same, but the curves are not quite phase shifted by 1800, so that at a certain time the current, which is proportional to the area Mt, flows in the control circuit. If the frequency of the machine increases, the curve i can represent the potential of the anode 15, and the grid potential is correspondingly increased in frequency; it can be represented by the curve k.
As a result of the increased effectiveness of the tuning fork as an energy transmitter for frequencies in the vicinity of its resonance frequency, the amplitude of curve k will be greater than that of curve h. For this reason, there is an increase in the area enclosed by the anode and grid current curves and the axis (for time) in a part of the period in which both grid and anode are positive (see n). As before, this results in an increase in the current in the control winding 10. If it is assumed that the frequency of the machine to be controlled decreases, this obviously corresponds to a decrease in the area n and therefore a decrease in the current in the control circuit, which in turn increases the frequency of the monitored machine is brought back into the predetermined frequency range.
