EMI1.1

EMI1.1
It is known. To regulate the prime mover in electrical power plants in such a way that the inflow of the fuel is made dependent on the load on the electrical machine. This avoids the disadvantages of the otherwise customary arrangement in which the inflow of the force medium into the drive unit takes place as a function of a speed controller. Since the mass acceleration is relatively slow compared to the changes in the electrical load, considerable disturbances can occur in a power plant, especially in synchronous generators, before the mechanical speed controller has responded and done its job.
An arrangement which allows the flow of the fuel to be influenced directly by the power requirement of the generator forms the subject of the invention.
According to the invention, the mechanically absorbed power of the generator and the electrical load on the generator are compared with one another with the aid of a differential relay.
Separate auxiliary circuits can be used to measure both powers, the electrical state of which is changed proportionally by the respective changing powers. In the auxiliary circuit that measures the electrical power output, a wattmeter indicating the load, for example, changes the voltage by means of a variable resistor that is fed to one coil of the differential system. In the second auxiliary circuit, the respective power of the drive machine is measured by the fact that the position of the main control element of the drive machine determines the resistance of the

relay (9, 13) closed. The voltage on this coil is thus determined by the size of the resistor 7, which depends on the respective position of the wattmeter 4.
The adjustment resistor 10 is located in the circuit for measuring the power of the drive machine, the size of which is set by the variable contact 11 connected to the main control element 1. 2 in such a way that the voltage occurring at the second coil 13 is proportional to the power of the drive machine. The coils 9 and 1.3 together with their two rigidly connected cores form the differential relay which moves a lever 14. This lever is connected at a point 16 to an auxiliary valve 77 in such a way that

of the latter, the fuel flow for the engine 1 is changed with the aid of a slide 18.
To maintain stable operation, a centrifugal regulator 19 of a known type is also provided, which acts on the other end of the lever arm 14. The mode of operation of this device is now as follows:
Under normal load, the two coils 9 and 13 of the differential relay are in equilibrium, there is no movement of the auxiliary valve, that is, no movement of the main valve, and the slide 18 remains in its position corresponding to the normal flow of force. Dodges the

This continues until such a position of the valve 18 or the resistor 10 is reached that the voltage now occurring at the coil 13 of that of the coil 9 maintains the equilibrium. Since the resistor 10 is adjusted in accordance with the power of the prime mover, the voltage now printed on the coil 13 corresponds to the power of the prime mover that is established at the same time. The power of the prime mover and the load are now in balance again.
The asymmetry of the coils 9 and 13 acts in this case through a mechanical transmission on the

which drives the main control element 12 directly. Should the number of revolutions suddenly change for any reason, the centrifugal controller 19 responds and restores the prescribed number of revolutions.
