Thread cutting head whose jaw holders can be pivoted about axes that are parallel to the axis of the head.
The invention relates to thread cutting heads with swiveling jaw holders, the axes of which are parallel to the head axis. Compared to the known thread cutting heads of this type, the subject of the invention is characterized by great simplicity of execution, easy removal of the jaw holder without disassembling the head and the fact that the pivot pins are almost free from bending stress. This ensures accurate thread cutting.
The drawing illustrates an embodiment of the thread cutting head according to the invention in FIGS. 1 and 2 in axial longitudinal section and in front view; Fig. 3 is a section along the line III-III of Fig. 2. Figs. 4 and 5 show the jaw holder in side and front views. Fig. 6 is a section along the line vu-vs of Fig.-).
The cutting jaw holder 3 is opened and closed in a known manner by means of a conically twisted ring 9 that is displaceable on the body 1 and against which the holder 3 resiliently rest. Each of these is mounted by means of a smooth, cylindrical pivot pin 4 in bores of the part 2, which is firmly connected to the body 1, without further fastening means and can swing freely on its flat, ground face.
Coaxially to the pin 4 sit on the end face of 2 circularly curved guide strips 7 which engage in grooves 5 of the holder 3 by means of the ribs 6 and are fastened to the part 2 by means of screws 8 or the like. On the back of each holder 3 there is a pin 12 which projects into a slot in part 2 and rests against a pin 10 which is displaceable in a radial bore of 2 and which is under the action of a helical spring 11. The holder 3 is therefore pressed against the ring 9 under the action of the resilient pressure pin 10, which is limited in its movement by a stop, so that when 9 is withdrawn, the holder 3 and the jaws lift automatically from the finished thread.
If the holder 3 is to be exchanged, only the ring 9 has to be withdrawn, the holder then swinging under the action of the springs 11 about their pivot pins 4 outwards over the guides 6, 7 into the position dotted in FIG associated peg holes can be pulled out. The insertion of the holder 3 takes place in the same way in reverse order. Any contamination on the face is easily pushed away when it is inserted. So you can always outside the thread cutting head in the simplest way! !,. 3 replace the thread bars.
Due to the use of the guides 6, 7 and the counter pressure of the conical part of the ring 9 in the plane of the cutting jaws, the bending stress on the pin 4 is only insignificant.
