Description

Internal combustion engine with airless fuel injection.
The invention relates to internal combustion engines with airless fuel injection, in which the fuel moves and the combustion air is introduced axially into the combustion chamber in such a way that it executes a circular movement for the purpose of good mixing with the fuel.
In a known machine of this type, the injection nozzles are directed radially towards the cylinder axis and the circulating air moves through the fuel jets, whereby it is supposed to be enriched with fuel. However, this purpose is not achieved satisfactorily because the short duration of the fuel injection is not sufficiently taken into account and the injection energy of the fuel has an inhibiting effect on the movement of air. Under practical conditions, it has proven impossible to move the entire circulating air mass, the speed of which is reduced by the injection energy, past the fuel nozzles in the short time available.
Therefore, there is only an imperfect mixture of air and fuel and, as a result, insufficient combustion.

The injection duration can be changed with the load and speed of the engine, whereby the air movement due to the tangential arrangement of the fuel nozzles is supported by the injection energy of the fuel.
