Fig. 9 ergibt das Schema hiezu. 26 ist die Lampe, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 fünf Zellen, 32 ein Schalthebel und 33, 34, 35 die Kontakte, durch welche 3, 4 und 5 Zellen eingeschaltet werden.
PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE :

the contact strips 20, 18 and 16 to the resistance wire and from this via the contact springs 11 and 12 to the rod 14 and the housing and via the second terminal 13 in turn to the lamp.
The handling is such that you first switch on the entire wire resistor 5 and then gradually reduce the resistance by turning the knob 9 at certain time intervals in accordance with the decreasing voltage. In this way, a very long battery life can be achieved with approximately the same brightness of the lamp. At the same time, the lamp is also protected from overvoltage.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 5 and 6, the battery 3 is again composed of five elements, and the corner of the battery box 1 receiving the contact device of the resistor is butt-cut off, as can be seen in particular from FIG. Only the spindle 6 which moves the contact piece 10 lies in this corner.
The resistance wire 5 is wound around the insulating battery housing 22 surrounding the battery 3, as a result of which the accommodation of this wire is considerably simplified. The contact piece 10 leads with a nose 23 in the corner 24 of the box; its contact spring sliding along the wire is again labeled 11:
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 7 and 8, a block 4 made of wood or other insulating material is again provided for receiving the resistance wire 5, which, as can be seen from FIG. 8, is provided with an incision 25 for receiving the regulating spindle 6 .
The arrangement here is essentially the same as in the first-described embodiment, only the part of the box serving to hold the battery is rectangular, and the battery is also suitably made rectangular.
In all embodiments, the current can be fed back through the metallic housing of the battery box and through the bicycle frame to the battery instead of the one line.
The resistor can also be arranged separately on the wheel, independently of the battery, and can also be implemented in any other form than that described here, that is to say as an ordinary rotational resistor.

to use only three cells at the beginning of use and to connect additional cells in the event of a voltage drop.
9 shows the scheme for this. 26 is the lamp, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 five cells, 32 is a switch lever and 33, 34, 35 are the contacts through which 3, 4 and 5 cells are switched on.
