 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  Grapple arrangement for car lifters.

The subject of the invention is a device intended to prevent vehicle wheels from sliding. It consists of a disc that can be easily attached to the wheel, and on which a series of radial blades are articulated, which are transverse with respect to the wheel. These shovels, which can be turned over to the center of the wheel when the device is not in use, are turned over to the circumference of the wheel as soon as the terrain begins to become slippery, so that in this case the vehicle rolls on these shovels, which with Project a certain amount in relation to the wheel.

This device is very effective and very simple in construction. It can adapt to wheels with solid rubber or flexible tires, but is preferably installed on wheels with pneumatic tires.

An embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing. Figure 1 is a partial front elevational view of the device with the blades folded and with the blades deployed. FIG. 2 is a vertical section through the device along the line Ara of FIG. 1.

A disc 1 made of steel is z. B. fastened by means of screws 2 on the wheel 3 of the vehicle. The screws can simultaneously serve to fasten the wheel 3 on the hub 4. A row of projections 5 are provided on the disk, which serve as supports for axles 6, which are approximately parallel to the wheel plane, and on which the blades 7 can swing. In the working position, the inner surface 7b of the blades 7 is supported against the outside of the pneumatic tire, the tire in general or the wheel rim. The sole 7a rests on the ground and the wing 7e, which protrudes with respect to the tread of the tire, plays the role of the gripper.

It should be noted that due to the eccentric arrangement of the hinge of the blades with respect to their axis of oscillation and due to the inclined position of the soles 7a with respect to the wheel plane, the pressures acting on the blades tend towards them against the rim or against the wheel tire to press. In addition, the soles 7a prevent the blades 7 from penetrating too deeply into the ground and also act in such a way that the ground is tamped, so that the blades of the blades encounter great resistance.

Each blade has two flats 9 and 10. A spring 8, which is attached to the disc 1, holds the blade in the working position in that it rests on the flat 9 and in the rest position when it approaches the flat 10 to lie down.

If the vehicle is on poor, slippery terrain, it will be sufficient to turn the shovels outwards one after the other by hand so that they lie against the circumference of the wheel. In this position, the wheel is thus provided with grippers that prevent slipping and are formed by the blades. The vehicle can therefore move around and even tow significant loads, and this on poor terrain.

When you get back to mobile terrain, it will be sufficient to turn the blades back inwards one after the other by arranging them towards the center of the wheel. In this position of the blades, the vehicle can roll like a normal vehicle.

The operation of the blades for establishing the working position or the rest position is extremely simple, since all that is required for this is a screw, a wedge or a bolt

to adjust. It should also be noted here that it is not necessary to add or remove a part, because the device forms a single whole.

If you have to make a long journey during which you will certainly not use the shovels, you can remove the device, even if this is not absolutely necessary. To do this, loosen the screws 2 and, after removing the washers, tighten them again to fix the wheel again on its hub.

It is obvious that, without departing from the essence of the invention, the shape and arrangement of the various parts which make up the device described by way of example can be varied in any suitable manner. So you will z. B. can provide a device by means of which the folding of the blades takes place automatically. Likewise, the blades 7 can instead be attached to the disk 1 on the wheel body itself.
