Abstract
El problema que se aborda en la presente invención es el de la especificación de un proceso para la producción electroquímica de LiOH a partir de agua que contiene Li⁺ con la asistencia de una celda electroquímica con membrana de LiSiCon que se puede operar de manera económica también a escala industrial. En particular, el proceso debería tener buena eficiencia energética y lograr una alta vida útil de la membrana incluso cuando la solución de entrada empleada contenga impurezas que son dañinas para los materiales de LiSiCon. El problema se soluciona mediante las condiciones de flujo en el compartimento anódico de la celda electroquímica que se establecen de forma tal que el anolito fluye a lo largo de la membrana con determinada velocidad de flujo transversal mínima.
