Abstract

Reivindicación 1: Una construcción de ADN recombinante que comprende un polinucleótido aislado unido operativamente a al menos una secuencia reguladora, en donde dicho polinucleótido aislado comprende al menos una secuencia de nucleótidos que codifica un polipéptido capaz de conferir o mejorar la resistencia al tizón foliar norteño, en donde el polipéptido tiene una secuencia de aminoácidos con al menos un 90% de identidad de secuencia respecto de la SEQ ID Nº 100, y en donde el polipéptido capaz de conferir o mejorar la resistencia al tizón foliar norteño tiene un sitio de acción o un modo de acción diferente en comparación con la SEQ ID Nº 97. Reivindicación 9: Un proceso de alteración del nivel de expresión de una proteína capaz de conferir resistencia al tizón foliar norteño en una célula de maíz que comprende: a. transformar una célula de maíz con la construcción de ADN recombinante de la reivindicación 1; y b. cultivar la célula de maíz transformada en condiciones adecuadas para la expresión de la construcción de ADN recombinante, en donde la expresión de la construcción de ADN recombinante da lugar a la producción de niveles alterados de una proteína capaz de conferir resistencia al tizón foliar norteño en la célula de maíz transformada cuando se compara con los niveles de expresión en una planta de maíz de tipo silvestre con resistencia al tizón foliar norteño.The disclosure relates to methods and compositions for identifying and selecting maize plants with improved resistance to northern leaf blight. Claim 1: A recombinant DNA construct comprising an isolated polynucleotide operatively linked to at least one regulatory sequence, wherein said isolated polynucleotide comprises at least one nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide capable of conferring or enhancing resistance to northern leaf blight, wherein the polypeptide has an amino acid sequence with at least 90% sequence identity to SEQ ID No. 100, and wherein the polypeptide capable of conferring or enhancing resistance to northern leaf blight has a site of action or a different mode of action compared to SEQ ID No. 97. Claim 9: A process for altering the expression level of a protein capable of conferring resistance to northern leaf blight in a maize cell comprising: a. transforming a maize cell with the recombinant DNA construct of claim 1; and b. culturing the transformed maize cell under conditions suitable for expression of the recombinant DNA construct, wherein expression of the recombinant DNA construct results in the production of altered levels of a protein capable of conferring resistance to northern leaf blight on the transformed maize cell when compared to expression levels in a wild-type maize plant with resistance to northern leaf blight.
