Abstract

Se proporciona un método para producir plantas que tienen semillas con un mayor contenido de proteína y/o aceite usando mutagénesis y análisis químico no destructivo. Adicionalmente, se proporcionan métodos para identificar mutaciones causativas asociadas con mayor contenido de proteína y/o aceite y métodos para generar plantas que tienen las mutaciones causativas asociadas con mayor contenido de proteína y/o aceite. Reivindicación 1: Un método para producir plantas que tienen semillas con mayor contenido de proteína o aceite, comprendiendo el método: (a) proporcionar una población de semillas que tiene un fondo genético y que comprende además mutaciones introducidas; (b) realizar una medición no destructiva, de semilla única de infrarrojo cercano de alto rendimiento, del contenido de proteína o aceite de una pluralidad de semillas de la población de semillas; (c) ajustar un valor de proteína o aceite umbral basado en la medición del contenido de proteína o aceite respectivamente de la pluralidad de semillas, en el que el valor de proteína o aceite umbral se ajusta por encima del promedio del contenido de proteína o aceite de la pluralidad de semillas; (d) separar las semillas que exceden el valor de proteína o aceite umbral de la población de semillas; y (e) generar plantas a partir de las semillas separadas que exceden el valor de proteína o aceite umbral.
