In one embodiment, the process includes: (i) providing opposing flexible multilayer films that define a common peripheral edge; (ii) provide a pattern to a seal layer of one of the flexible multilayer films, wherein the pattern is composed of a release material adhered to the seal layer, and the pattern is located along a portion of the peripheral edge common; (iii) applying a heat sealing process to the common peripheral edge and pattern to form a peripheral seal; and (iv) forming, with the release material pattern, at least one flow channel that extends through the peripheral seal. The present disclosure also includes the resulting flexible bag formed from the process.
