Pesticide proteins are useful for controlling, inhibiting growth or killing populations of lepidoptera, coleoptera, diptera, fungal, hemiptera and nematode pests and for producing compositions with insecticidal activity. Claim 1: A non-genomic nucleic acid molecule encoding an AfIP-1A polypeptide, wherein the AfIP-1A polypeptide has one or more amino acid substitutions compared to the sequence of sec. with no.
