Abstract

Cuando un avión vuela, en el extremo de cada ala se genera un vórtice, llamado vórtice de extremo. Cuando una hélice gira para producir tracción, genera a su vez un vórtice. Instalando entonces las hélices en las propias punteras de las alas, y haciéndolas girar en sentido contrario al del vórtice de extremo, este último resulta disminuido, cancelado, o invertido. Consecuentemente, disminuye o desaparece la resistencia inducida.
