Abstract

Claim 4: A method according to claim 2, wherein the oxaborol of the general formula (1) has the formula (3) wherein R³ and R⁴ are each independently hydrogen, optionally substituted C₁₋₁₈ alkyl or optionally substituted phenyl, or R³ , together with Y or part of Y, forms an optionally substituted 5 or 6 or 7 member ring containing the nitrogen atom; and Y is an optionally substituted divalent alkylene linker group containing up to 18 carbon atoms; R³ and R⁴ are preferably optionally substituted C₁₋₁₂ alkyl, more preferably optionally substituted C₁₋₈ alkyl and especially substituted C₁₋₆ alkyl. Claim 5: A method according to claim 2, wherein the oxaborol of the general formula (1) has the formula (4) wherein: A, D and X are as defined hereinbefore; n is 1, 2 or 3; R³ is hydrogen, optionally substituted C₁₋₁₈ alkyl or optionally substituted phenyl; R⁵ and R⁶ are each independently hydrogen, optionally substituted alkyl containing up to a total of 16 carbon atoms or optionally substituted phenyl; preferably, R⁵ and R⁶ are each independently optionally substituted C₁₋₆ alkyl, especially optionally substituted C₁₋₄ alkyl. Claim 8: A method for controlling phytopathogenic diseases in useful plants or plant propagation material thereof, which comprises applying said plant propagation material an amount effective as a fungicide of a protective composition of the plant propagation material comprising a compound of formula (1 ) as defined in claim 1, together with a suitable carrier for this. Claim 23: The use of a compound of formula (1) according to claim 1, in the preparation of a composition for coating a plant propagation material in order to prevent or control pathogenic fungi in plants.
