Abstract
Un proceso para la extracción de un metal precioso, tal como oro o plata, de un mineral o concentrado de sulfuro u otro material de origen que comprende someter el material de origen a oxidación a presión para producir una suspensión de oxidación a presión. La suspensión de oxidación a presión es flameada en forma descendente a una temperatura y presión inferiores y luego se somete a una separación líquido-sólido para obtener una solución de oxidación a presión y un residuo sólido que contiene el metal precioso. El residuo sólido es luego sometido a cianuración para extraer el metal precioso. La formación de tiocianuro durante la cianuración es minimizada o contrarrestada efectuando la cianuración a una presión de oxígeno elevada y un periodo de retención reducido, tal como 30 a 90 minutos. También se proporciona un método para la reducción de la formación de cianuro de cobre durante la lixiviación de la cianuración. Claim 1: A method for minimizing the formation of thiocyanate during the recovery of precious metal from a residue, which contains the precious metal and elemental sulfur, produced by a hydrometallurgical process, characterized in that the method comprises: the step of subjecting the residue to cyanidation to leach the precious metal in the solution, whereby the formation of thiocyanate during said cyanidation is minimized or counteracted by performing said cyanidation at an elevated oxygen pressure of about 1000 to 10,000 kPag in order to reduce the duration of cyanidation while at the same time an important portion of the precious metal is leached during said reduced duration of cyanidation and where the duration of cyanidation is a maximum of about 300 minutes.
