Abstract

Un método para inhibir la velocidad de por lo menos un proceso biológico en una semilla o una planta. El método comprende poner en contacto una parte de una semilla, una planta o el locus de la misma con una composición de substancias. La composición de substancias comprende una mezcla compleja agronómicamente aceptable de material orgánico disuelto, sustancialmente desprovista de uno o más iones metálicos esenciales para el por lo menos un proceso biológico en la semilla o la planta. También se describe una composición de substancias que comprende una mezcla de compuestos derivados de materia orgánica natural (NOM) que está sustancialmente desprovista de iones metálicos.Reivindicación 17: La composición de substancias de una cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 13 - 16, caracterizada porque dicha composición de substancias está caracterizada por dos o más de: a) una mezcla de hidrocarburos condensados, ligninas y taninos y/o taninos condensados; b) una proporción entre oxígeno y carbono para la materia orgánica disuelta que es mayor que alrededor de 0,5; c) una cantidad total de compuestos de tanino que es mayor que alrededor de 200, donde los compuestos de tanino tienen una proporción entre hidrógeno y carbono de entre alrededor de 0,5 y alrededor de 1,4 y un índice de aromaticidad menor que alrededor de 0,7 medidos por espectroscopia de masa; o d) una distribución de masa de alrededor de 55 - 60% de compuestos de lignina, 27 - 35% de compuestos de tanino y alrededor de 8 - 15% de hidrocarburos condensados medidos por espectrometría de masa.
