Abstract

Se proporciona un aparato de componentes y métodos para conectar y sellar una terminación de cable a un cable eléctrico utilizado en un entorno de pozos de petróleo. Los conductores eléctricos están fijados en elementos aislantes retenidos dentro del terminador de cable. Los conductores se insertan en pasajes formados a través de elementos aislantes, en donde cada uno tiene una porción en forma elíptica. Los canales se forman a lo largo de la superficie de los pasajes y a lo largo de la circunferencia de las porciones en forma elíptica. Los sellos de cubierta aislante se proporcionan en las porciones en forma elíptica y limitan los conductores eléctricos. Un líquido a base de hidrocarburos se aplica a los sellos de cubierta aislante para hacer que se dilaten y ocupen el espacio entre los conductores y los aislantes, incluyendo los canales.
