Abstract
Un proceso para purificar etanol usando un reactor de terminación para la eliminación de impurezas, tal como acetato de etilo, acetaldehído, ácido acético y dietil acetal, presentes en el etanol después de la destilación de un producto crudo de un reactor de hidrogenación. Claim 1: A method for purifying an ethanol product, characterized in that it comprises: hydrogenating acetic acid in a primary reactor in the presence of a first catalyst to form a crude ethanol product; separating at least a portion of the crude ethanol product to give an intermediate stream comprising ethanol and one or more impurities that are selected from the group consisting of: ethyl acetate, acetaldehyde, acetic acid, and diethyl acetal; and contacting the intermediate stream and hydrogen in a secondary reactor in the presence of a second catalyst, under selectivity conditions, to hydrogenate said one or more impurities to form a purified ethanol product.
