Abstract
La presente solicitud provee métodos para la seleccion química de gametos femeninos que no contienen un transgen de interés en plantas. El resultado de los métodos es la eficiencia incrementada de un programa de reproduccion a fin de obtener una pureza de rasgos incrementada al asegurar que las plantas y especies endogámicas sean homocigotas para un transgen de interés. Los herbicidas tales como glifosato pueden ser utilizados como gametocida químico, para eliminar en forma selectiva los gametos femeninos que no contienen el gen que confiere resistencia a glifosato, lo que genera una semilla o progenie sustancialmente homocigota para dicha resistencia a herbicida a gran escala en una unica generacion. Reivindicacion 1 Un método para producir líneas endogámicas de maíz con rasgos de alta pureza, caracterizado porque comprende: aplicar un gametocida a una poblacion de plantas, en donde algunas de dichas plantas son hemicigotas para resistencia a dicho gametocida, en donde dicho gametocida elimina de manera eficiente la viabilidad de sustancialmente todos los gametos femeninos que no poseen el gen que confiere resistencia a gametocida; y producir una semilla o progenie de dicha semilla, en donde dicha semilla o progenie es sustancialmente homocigota para resistencia a dicho gametocida.
