Abstract

Proceso para la modificacion de un polímero o copolímero con la estructura general (1) para una o más de las unidades repetitivas donde n es un entero, m es un entero dentro del rango entre 0 y 6, y R se selecciona entre hidrogeno, alquilo C1-20 sustituido o no sustituido, cicloalquilo C3-20, arilo C6-20, aniquilo C7-20, y alcarilo C7-20, donde dichos grupos pueden incluir unidades alquilo lineal o ramificado; donde los uno o más sustituyentes opcionales se seleccionan entre el grupo que consiste en los grupos hidroxi, alcoxi, alqu(en)ilo lineal o ramificado, ariloxi, halogeno, ácido carboxílico, éster, carboxi, nitrilo, y amido, donde dicho proceso incluye poner en contacto el polímero o copolímero con un peroxido orgánico cíclico en las condiciones necesarias para que se descomponga por lo menos parte de dicho peroxido. This process results in a (co) polymer with a high degree of branching but free of gel formation.
