The inlet portion may be configured to connect to an engine block and receive engine exhaust. The outlet portion can emit the exhaust gases after plasma treatment. The intermediate portion may carry the exhaust gases from the inlet portion to the outlet portion. In one embodiment, one or more plasma cavities may be located near the inlet portion to treat the exhaust gases. The system may also include a source of electromagnetic radiation connected to the cavity to deliver radiation to the cavity, in which the radiations have a frequency of less than about 333GHz. Exhaust gas treatments using plasma catalysts are also provided.
