Abstract

It comprises a mesh tube, coated at least in part by a polymer impermeable to the passage of blood, with a lower portion (1) and an upper portion (2). Both portions (1, 2) can form a single body, or (1) can be telescopically linked to (2), but always forming a warped curvature in space. At the end of the section (2), it branches into two branches, the major branch (6) being introduced into the left pulmonary artery, filling the total pulmonary artery, while the other branch is projected into a short section (7 ) back and is inserted into the right pulmonary artery. Both branches (6, 7) have a diameter between 10 to 13 mm., Forming a deformed "Y" with its branches directed backwards. Each of said branches (6, 7) is formed by a mesh composed of threads at least partially covered by said impermeable polymeric material and form a single body with respect to the second upper portion (2). The first portion (1) has a curvature between 35 ° to 45 °, and a circular cross-section, with a diameter between 16 to 20 mm., While at its upper end said first portion (1) has a progressively flattened cross section and substantially oval, the cross sections being along the aforementioned axis of substantially equal area; the side of (1) has at least one selectively sealable fenestration (5), which communicates the inside of said tubing with the outside thereof. The second portion (2) has sections of the same area increasingly oval to reach a smaller diameter of the ellipse between 10 to 13 mm. the length of the first portion (1) being between 60 to 75 mm. in length, while the branch of greater length (6) of the second portion has a length between 18 to 25 mm., and the length of the short bifurcated appendix (7) ranges between 4 to 8 mm .; defining the short appendix in its bifurcation with respect to the branch of greater length a portion of wall that faces between 50% to 70% of blood that ascends through the projected area of the tubular duct from its lower end, establishing a division of blood flow proportional to both lungs. The lower end (1 a) of the first section defines a connection to the inferior vena cava and the suprahepatic veins, this tubular duct formed by said first and second portions being housed within the right atrium of the heart.
