Abstract

La presente se refiere a un procedimiento para inmovilizar elementos radioactivos. El procedimiento de la presente, se basa en la ceramización con uranio sinterizado, donde no se agrega vidrio y que consiste en mezclar el material obtenido del pre-tratamiento del combustible con óxido de uranio de composición isotópica igual o menor a la natural, y luego sinterizar esa mezcla, obteniendo un bloque cerámico monolítico con propiedades adecuadas para la disposición final del mismo en un repositorio geológico profundo. El procedimiento de la presente consta de las siguientes etapas: separación del aluminio mediante procesos mecánicos, calcinado previo, molienda previa, calcinado, mezclado, molienda, prensado y sinterizado. Un uso del procedimiento para inmovilizar elementos radioactivos de la presente, es en los elementos radioactivos contenidos en los combustibles agotados provenientes de reactores nucleares de investigación.
