Abstract

A process for producing a polymer in a continuous loop reactor for suspensions, comprising: reacting a monomer in a hydrocarbon diluent so as to form a polymerization suspension of polymer solids in a liquid medium; discharge a portion of the polymerization suspension as a suspension effluent comprising a suspension of polymer solids discharged into a liquid medium through at least two discharge ducts; combine the effluent from at least two of the discharge ducts; subject to flash evaporation the combined effluent in a first flash tank, so as to form a first flash vapor and a first flash suspension; and condense at least a portion of the first flash steam, without compression. A loop reactor for suspensions, comprising: multiple entries for the catalyst; at least one feed inlet; at least one discharge duct; and at least one circulator in the reactor; the entries for the catalyst being within 45% of the symmetry points of the loop reactor.
