Abstract

Un aparato y método para la aplicacion de ultrasonido en una region del cuerpo. Incluye un sistema de deteccion de cavitacion de modo que la eficacia yseguridad del ultrasonido pueden ser monitoreados durante el tratamiento por ultrasonido. El aparato se puede operar en forma ventajosa con una duracion depulsos de menos de 100 milisegundos y en el rango entre 0.1 milisegundo y 100 milisegundos y con un período de repeticion de pulsos por debajo deaproximadamente un segundo y en el rango de entre1 milisegundo y 1 segundo. También son ventajosas las relaciones de trabajo superiores a 5 y preferentementesuperiores a 8. Se incluyen además aplicaciones terapéuticas de ultrasonido tales como complemento del tratamiento de afecciones clínicas tales como el cáncery/u otras enfermedades.
