Compuestos y composiciones particularmente utiles para tratar la pérdida del cabello en mamíferos, incluyendo detener y/o revertir y estimularel crecimiento de éste. Los compuestos tienen una estructura bifenílica (I) y, preferiblemente, no afectan al corazon, en donde: R1, R2, R5, R7 y R10 son cadauno de manera independiente, seleccionados entre hidrogeno, halogeno, alquilo, alquenilo, alquinilo, heteroalquilo, heteroalquenilo y heteroalquinilo;R4 es seleccionado entre el grupo consistente en halogeno, alquilo, alquenilo, alquinilo, cicloalquilo, cicloalquenilo, arilo, arilalquilo, heteroalquilo,heteroalquenilo, heteroalquinilo, heterocicloalquilo, heterocicloalquenilo, heteroarilo, heteroarilalquilo, y heteroarilalquenilo; con lacondicionde que cuando R2 es hidrogeno, Y es -CH2CHK1, X es seleccionado entre -NZ- y -NH- y R12 es alquilo C1-4, en donde K1 es seleccionada entrehidrogeno y alquilo C1-4 y Z es alquilo C1-4, entonces R4 no sea arilalquilo; R8 y R9 son cada uno de manera independiente, seleccionados entre hidrogeno,halogeno, alquilo, alquenilo, alquinilo, cicloalquilo, cicloalquenilo, arilo, arilalquilo, heteroalquilo, heteroalquenilo, heteroalquinilo, heterocicloalquilo,heterocicloalquenilo, heteroarilo, heteroarilalquilo y heteroarilalquenilo; con la condicion que por lo menos uno, entre R8 y R9, no sea hidrogeno; R3 esseleccionado entre hidrogeno, alquilo, alquenilo, alquinilo, cicloalquilo, cicloalquenilo, arilo, arilalquilo, heteroalquilo, heteroalquenilo, heteroalquinilo,heterocicloalquilo, heterocicloalquenilo, heteroarilo, heteroarilalquilo y heteroarilalquenilo; Y es seleccionado entre un enlace, alquilo, alquenilo,alquinilo, heteroalquilo, heteroalquenilo y heteroalquinilo; X es seleccionado entre -NZ-, -NH- y -O-; R11 es seleccionado entre un enlace y -C(O)-; con lacondicion que cuando Y es un enlace y X es -O-, luego R11 será -C(O)-; y cuando Y es alquilo y X es -O- entonces R11 no será -C(O)-; R12 es seleccionado entrealquilo, alquenilo, alquinilo, heteroalquilo, heteroalquenilo, heteroalquinilo, cicloalquilo, cicloalquenilo, heterocicloalquilo, heterocicloalquenilo, arilo,Compounds and compositions particularly useful for treating hair loss in mammals, including stopping and / or reversing and stimulating hair growth.
