Abstract

Un cable eléctrico, en particular para transmision o distribucion de energía de media o alta tension, que tiene una pantalla metálica y una capaexpandida semiconductora que bloquea el agua. Esta capa tiene tres funciones principales: la primera esab sorber elástica y uniformemente fuerzas radialesde expansion y contraccion de las capas de recubrimiento del cable debido a ciclos térmicos del cable durante el uso, evitando así deformaciones o roturasen la pantalla metálica; la segunda esasegurar continuidad eléctrica entre el nucleo del cable y la pantalla metálica; la tercera es evitarefectivamente la penetracion y propagacion de humedad y/o agua a lo largo del nucleo del cable debido, por ejemplo a posibles roturas en laspantallametálica. La tercera funcion se obtiene incluyendo en la capa expandida un material que se expande en el agua.
