Se trata de complejos de ciclopenantrenil-metales de formula CpZMXxLlXx(IA); caracterizado porque Cp es un ligante de sistema anular deciclopentafenantrenilo opcionalmente sustituido al menos con un grupo ligante seleccionado entre ligantes de hidrocarbilo, sililo, germilo, haluro,hidroxicarbiloxi, hidrocarbisiloxi, hidrocarbisililamino, di(hidrocarbil)amino, hidrocarbilenoamino, di(hidrocarbil)fosfino, hidrocarbilenofosfino,hidrocarbilsulfido, hidrocarbilo halo-sustituido, hidrocarbilo, hidrocarbiloxi-sustituido , hidrocarbil sililo-sustituido, hidrocarbilo hidrocarbilsiloxi-sustituido, hidrocarbilo hidrocarbilsililamino-sustituido - hidrocarbilo di(hidrocarbil)amino-sustituido, hidrocarbilo, hidrocarbilenoamino-sustituido,hidrocarbilo di(hidrocarbil)fosfino-sustituido, hidrocarbilo hidrocarbilenofosfino-sustituido, o hidrocarbilo hidrocarbilsulfido-sustituido, en donde dichogrupo ligante de hasta 40 átomos sin contar los átomos de hidrogeno, y opcionalmente dos o más de los grupos ligantes anteriores pueden conjuntamente formar underivado divalente, y además opcionalmente uno o más átomos de carbono del sistema de anular ciclopentafenantrenilo pueden ser reemplazados por un átomo denitrogeno o fosforo; M es titanio, circonio o hafnio en el estado de oxidacion formal +2, +3 o +4; Z es tanto un grupo ligante cíclico o no cíclico quecontiene pi-electrones deslocalizados, incluyendo un segundo grupo de sistema de anillociclopentafenantrenilo, tal como se describe anteriormentepara Cp, endonde A está unido a M mediante pi-electrones deslocalizados y opcionalmente ligados en forma covalente a Cp mediante un miembro de puente divalente, o Z es ungrupo divalente que carece de pi-electrones deslocalizados que se encuentra ligado en forma covalente a Cp, y M.
