Abstract

Un método y aparato para paginar una terminal inalámbrica en un sistema de comunicaciones inalámbrico, reduce el consumo de energía eléctrica durante elnodo standby. Se establece un canal de paginacion rápida, mínimamente codificado, por intermediod el cual son transmitidos mensajes de páginas breves rápidas(30) durante una o mas ranuras de paginacion rápida. El mensaje de página rápida indica que se ha recibido un requerimiento para establecer una comunicacion,y que las terminales decomunicaci ones receptoras deben procesar un canal de paginacion completa, altamente codificado, por intermedio del cual sontransmitidos mensajes de página completa (32), mas detallados, durante la siguiente ranura de paginacion completa. Unaterminal supervisa el canal depaginacion completa solamente cuando se ha recibido un mensaje de página rápida en el canal de paginacion rápida.
