Abstract

The stack of components, while held in an axially compressed condition, receives insulating coating which includes thermosetting resin which, when cured, has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the components of the stack. The coated pile is then cured at a temperature that exceeds the maximum temperature expected to be experienced by the components of the arrester. On cooling, the components of the assembly are held in compression and in proper electrical contact with one another by the coating. Fiberglass cords are included in the liner for reinforcement and cantilever strength. An electrical assembly and a method of manufacturing the subassembly are also disclosed.
