Abstract

1,133,198. Resilient shock-isolator mountings. J. S. HARDIGG. 26 Oct., 1966, No. 48141/66. Addition to 915,994. Heading F2S. [Also in Division B5] The subject-matter described and illustrated with respect to Figs 1-8 is substantially the same as that described in the parent Specification 995,914, the improvement in the present Specification being that the ratio of the cross-sectional area of the compressible cellular elastomeric material to the cross-sectional area of the rod element or elements if there are more than one, is at least 20:1. In addition materials stated to be suitable to form the compressible cellular elastomeric material are polyesters, polyesteramide, polyisocyanate-modified alkylene glycols, polyisocyanate-modified polyoxyalkylene glycols, castor oil &c. As shown in Fig. 11 the flexible rod elements comprise triple tubes connected together by thin webbing 52, Figs. 16a-16d showing various other shapes of flexible tubes which can be used in the isolator body. Five-sided and cylindrical flexible polyurethane cushions suitable respectively for use in each half of a centresplit aluminium transit case and in cylindrical containers are also described, Figs. 17, 18, not shown.
