Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to facilitate sidewise movement, oblique movement or the like of a carrier vehicle by arranging universal wheels at front and rear of a carrier vehicle, and by arranging a pair of drive wheel which are directionally turnable, between the universal wheels, and by providing contact pressure holding means for pressing the drive wheels against the floor and contact pressure reducing means. CONSTITUTION:Universal wheels 3 are mounted at four corners of the lower section of a carrier vehicle 1, respectively, and a pair of drive wheels 4 are mounted on the center part of the vehicle, turnably about longitudinal shafts 8. The drive wheels 4 are rotated normally and reversely by the operation of a motor 11 through a speed reduction unit 12 and a chain 13, and are directionally turned when toque is transmitted to bevel gears secured to one end of the longitudinal shafts 8, from a steering wheel (not shown). Further, fluid cylinders are disposed between rotary plates 9 for supporting the longitudinal shafts 8 and support frames 5 for supporting the drive wheels 4 so as to adjust the contact pressure between the drive wheels 4 and the floor. Further, fluid type pushers 38 are provided at the corners of the vehicle so that the drive wheels 4 may be directionally turned after the drive wheels 4 are lifted from the floor.
