Abstract

The invention provides a method and system for assessing the value of a post in a social media gamification platform (102) using a plurality of virtual coins. Subsequently, the method and system allow the user to accumulate the plurality of virtual coins on the social medial gamification platform (102) based on one or more activities performed by the user using a coin collection module (110). Further, the method and system allow the user to upload a post in the social media gamification platform (102) for assessing the value of the post using a post assessment module (112) and/or participate in an assessment of a plurality of posts uploaded by one or more other users in the social network.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ASSESSING VALUE OF A POST IN A SOCIAL MED IA GAM IF ICAT ION PLATFORM USING A PLURALITY OF VIRTUAL COINS
FIELD OF THE IWI M ION
[0001] The invention generally relates to a method and system for assessing the value of a post in a social media gamification platform using a plurality of virtual coins. More specifically, the invention relates to a method and system for accumulating the plurality of virtual coins and assessing the value of the post or participating in an assessment to value the post uploaded by one or more users in the social media gamification platform.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] In general, social media platforms allow users to share information or content with a large group of friends or with a limited group of friends or family members to maintain the privacy of their activities or content. However, a majority of the user’s social network connections or friends remain distant without understanding the interests of each other, though at least one of the user’s connections share similar interests.
[0003] Conventional, social media platforms provide the social activity of users with information related to user’s interests in various categories that can be, but need not be limited to, television shows, music, movies, restaurants and the like. The information shared by the user’s social connections may be interesting to the user, for instance, the user can identify common interests or tastes in a particular category that are shared by the social media friend. However, the information is intermingled with the social activity and the information is shared by the social media contacts with whom the user does not share common interests or tastes.
[0004] Further, users of the social media platform have built their social profiles as social media influencers by establishing credibility in a specific field and won the trust of social media followers. These social media influencers are associated with various brands to advertise a product and make followers familiar with the marketer. The social media influencers can also monetize their influence in the social network by writing sponsored posts on social media, becoming a brand ambassador, conducting webinars or creating podcasts and charging consumers to access the content, creating physical products in collaboration with marketers, becoming a referral partner and receiving a percentage of a sale of a product and so forth.
[0005] Though marketers and social media influences use social media to generate multiple revenue streams, social network users, such as followers of a social media influencer may gain knowledge on brands and new products that are helpful to form an opinion about a particular marketer or product. However, the social network users are conventionally not involved in a revenue distribution plan or do not gain any income from following the social media influencer and being active in social media. Also, users of the social media platform cannot decide on a genuine social media influencer based on the promotions or content posted by the influences.
[0006] Moreover, social media platforms provide the ability to interact with a wide variety of users online, where the users can create and reply to posts in an open forum and receive feedback, such as in the form of upvotes, comments, likes, etc.
[0007] Conventionally, the method of receiving positive feedback results in an improved status of the user and more prominence to the user's profile. Similarly, a user that gives feedback to other users receives some exposure with each given feedback. However, the exposure of the user is being limited to their connections or the profiles who received the feedback and does not earn any income to the user in providing feedback or posting the content to the social media platform.
[0008] Therefore, in light of the above, there is a need for a method and system for enhancing the user’s experience in accessing the social media platform and providing value to the time spent by the users in accessing the social media platform by generating rewards to a plurality of users activities.

One or more activities may include, but need not be limited to, inviting one or more users to the social media gamification platform, receiving rewards on a daily-basis and viewing customized advertisements based on the user’s interests. Further, the method and system allow the user to access a socializing module for sharing one or more personalized posts and exploring a plurality of ongoing conversations globally or locally based on the user’s interests. Moving on, the method and system allow the user to upload a post in the social media gamification platform for assessing the value of the post using a post assessment module and/or participate in an assessment of a plurality of posts uploaded by one or more other users in the social network. The user is allowed to upload the post for assessment or participate in the assessment for other posts based on a predefined criterion provided by the post assessment module. Subsequently, a performance metric of posts is assessed in a plurality of locations using a performance metric module and displayed on a performance display module. The performance display module renders a top list of a plurality of users on a leaderboard according to the plurality of virtual coins accumulated by each user for the post assessed on the social media gamification platform. Later, the method and system allow the plurality of users of the social media gamification platform to redeem the plurality of virtual coins at a predefined third-party platform using a coin redemption module.

Claims

CLAIMS I/We Claim:
1. A method for assessing the value of a post in a social media gamification platform (102) using a plurality of virtual coins accumulated by a user on the social media gamification platform (102), the method comprising: creating, by one or more processors (204), a personalized profile of the user registered on the social media gamification platform (102) using a profile creation module (106), wherein the personalized profile includes one or more interests of the user in a plurality of domains to identify a plurality of users with similar interests; accumulating, by one or more processors, a plurality of virtual coins on the social medial gamification platform (102) based on one or more activities performed by the user using a coin collection module (110), wherein the one or more activities include inviting at least one another user to the social media gamification platform (102), receiving rewards on a daily-basis and viewing customized advertisements based on the user’s interests; allowing, by one or more processors, the user to access a socializing module (214) for sharing one or more personalized posts, wherein the socializing module (214) allows the user to explore a plurality of ongoing conversations globally or locally based on the user’s interests; allowing, by one or more processors, the user to upload a post in the social media gamification platform (102) for assessing the value of the post using a post assessment module (112) and/or participate in an assessment of a plurality of posts uploaded by one or more other users in the social media gamification platform (102), wherein the user is allowed to upload the post for assessment or participate in the assessment for other posts based on a predefined criterion provided by the post assessment module (112); and displaying, by one or more processors, a performance metric of posts assessed in a plurality of locations using a performance metric module (402) incorporated in a performance display module (216), wherein the performance display module (216) renders a top list of a plurality of users on a leaderboard (404) according to the plurality of virtual coins accumulated by each user for the post assessed on the social media gamification platform (102); and allowing, by one or more processors, the plurality of users of the social media gamification platform (102) to redeem the plurality of virtual coins at a predefined third-party platform (116) using a coin redemption module (218).
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein correlating at least six interests of the user in a domain from the plurality of domains with the interests of plurality of other users in the social media gamification platform (102) to identify the similarity between the users.
3. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the plurality of users with similar interests are notified using a notification module (212) to enhance the social connections and interaction of the plurality of users.
4. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein a plurality of animated characters is provided to the user while creating the personalized profile to select an animated character from the plurality of animated characters as a profile picture for reflecting the user’s outlook.
5. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the socializing module (214) includes: sharing, by one or more processors, one or more personalized posts of the user to one or more social connections in the user’s social network using a personalized post sharing module (302) and displaying at least three prior posts of the user along with the new personalized post to optimize the profile visibility of the user; and exploring, by one or more processors, a plurality of activities including a news feed, ongoing/live events and ongoing conversations globally or locally based on the user’s interests in the plurality of domains using an exploring module (304).

The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein automatically creating a group of a plurality of users based on predefined interests of the user and/or profile pictures of the plurality users to participate in an assessment to value the post uploaded by the user in the social media gamification platform (102).
7. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein displaying an ongoing assessment of the post in a graphical representation includes highest value of the post and at least two users in top position.
8. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the post assessment module (112) allows the user to participate in the assessment based on a predefined number of days spent by the user in the social media gamification platform (102), a predefined number of followers, a predefined number of posts and a daily activity of the user.
9. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the post assessment module (112) includes: automatically assigning, by one or more processors, an initial value to the post based on an average assessed value of the prior predefined number of posts; allowing, by one or more processors, at least one user to start the assessment from the initial value; increasing, by one or more processors, the value of the post based on a value offered by a plurality of users participating in the assessment, wherein reducing the initial value of the post after a predefined number of days if any user is not interested in participating the assessment; and terminating, by one or more processors, the assessment of the post with a high value offered by the user and reflecting the user’s profile on the post.
10. The method as claimed in claim 1, comprises an instant messaging module (220) to initiate a conversation or to communicated with social connections or participants in a post assessment using a plurality of themes or characters based on the user’s interest.
11. A system for assessing the value of a post in a social media gamification platform (102) using a plurality of virtual coins accumulated by a user on the social media gamification platform (102), the system comprising: a memory (202); a processor (204) in communication with the memory (202), wherein the processor (204) is configured to: create a personalized profile of the user registered on the social media gamification platform (102) using a profile creation module (106), wherein the personalized profile includes one or more interests of the user in a plurality of domains to identify a plurality of users with similar interests; accumulate a plurality of virtual coins on the social medial gamification platform (102) based on one or more activities performed by the user using a coin collection module (110), wherein the one or more activities include inviting at least one another user to the social media gamification platform (102), receiving rewards on a daily-basis and viewing customized advertisements based on the user’s interests; allow the user to access a socializing module (214) for sharing one or more personalized posts, wherein the socializing module (214) allows the user to explore a plurality of ongoing conversations globally or locally based on the user’s interests; allow the user to upload a post in the social media gamification platform (102) for assessing the value of the post using a post assessment module (112) and/or participate in an assessment of a plurality of posts uploaded by one or more other users in the social media gamification platform (102), wherein the user is allowed to upload the post for assessment or participate in the assessment for other posts based on predefined criterion provided by the post assessment module (112); display a performance metric of posts assessed in a plurality of locations using a performance metric module (402) incorporated in a performance display module (216), wherein the performance display module (216) renders a top list of plurality of users on a leaderboard (404) according to the plurality of virtual coins accumulated by each user for the post assessed on the social media gamification platform (102); and allow the plurality of users of the social media gamification platform (102) to redeem the plurality of virtual coins at a predefined third-party platform (116) using a coin redemption module (218).

The system as claimed in claim 11, wherein the socializing module (214) includes: share one or more personalized posts of the user to one or more social connections in the user’s social network using a personalized post sharing module (302); display at least three prior posts of the user along with the new personalized post to optimize the profile visibility of the user; and explore a plurality of activities including a news feed, ongoing/live events and ongoing conversations globally or locally based on the user’s interests in the plurality of domains using an exploring module (304).

The system as claimed in claim 11, wherein the post assessment module (112) includes: automatically assigning an initial value to the post based on an average assessed value of the prior predefined number of posts; allowing at least one user to start the assessment from the initial value; increasing the value of the post based on the assessment range offered by a plurality of users participating the assessment, wherein reducing the initial value of the post after a predefined number of days if any user is not interested in participating the assessment; and terminating the assessment of the post with a high value offered by the user and reflecting the user’s profile on the post.
