Description

SOCIAL NETWORK SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING A PLURALITY OF PERSONAS OF A USER
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to social network systems and methods, and more particularly relates to social network system and method for managing a plurality of personas of a user.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] In the present age, social media platforms have overtaken the conventional physical human interactions.
[0003] The current social media platforms which allow interactions between members are restrictive in many ways and do not mimic equivalent interactions compared to the real physical world. For instance, a user is required to create multiple profiles with multiple social media platforms to interact with different sectors of societies such as, family, friends, work or business, followers or fans, etc. In this regard, the user may spend a lot of precious time and time in creating, browsing and maintaining these profiles spread across these multiple social media platforms. Moreover, users are forced to replicate their data across these multiple social media platforms leading to loss of control over their valuable personal data, which is one of the most valuable asset at present.
[0004] Further, even though most of these social media platforms provide options to the users to create multiple groups based on the type of relationship with members and the kind of interactions the user may have with these members, these platforms have fixed pre-defined user setting options. In other words, irrespective of type of relationships with members the user may have, the kind of interactions the user may want to replicate similar to the real world with these members, the associated data that may be generated based on the interactions between the user and the members and the context of interactions, the user is required to select the fixed pre-defined setting options from these platforms. Due to which, user’s interactive experience with the social media platform will not be the same compared to the real world and is therefore, hampered. [0005] In view of the above, there is a dire need for systems and methods which efficiently provides social interactive experience for the user similar to the real-world scenario without compromising on data privacy.

The method 300 is exemplary in nature and should nowhere be construed as limiting the scope of the present disclosure.
[0033] At step 302, establishing, by an application server, a communications link with a communication device in response to the user downloading a user interface module on the communication device. The user is required to register with the system 100. For registration, the user is required to first download the user interface module on the communication device. Once the user interface module is downloaded on the communication device, the communication transceiver of the application server establishes a secured link with the communication device.
[0034] Thereafter, the user is required to install and the user interface module on the communication device, in other words register with the system 100.
[0035] In an embodiment, once the user interface module 124 is downloaded on the communication device 120, an interface/webpage is displayed on the display 122 as shown in Fig. 4. The interface displays a questionnaire required to be filled up by the user. The questionnaire requires the user to input identity particulars such as, but not limited to, name of the user, age, personal email address, user identifier such as, but not limited to, contact number, residential address, preferred unique identifier and password. Once the credential details are input by the user, the processing unit 130 of the communication device 110 checks to verify if the details provided are in the right order. In case there are any errors, the same is indicated to the user to rectify. Thereafter, a verification code is sent to either the user’s email address or the contact number of the user. The user is required to input the verification code at the communication device 130. Once this task is completed, the user is said to be registered. The credentials of the user which is received is stored in the memory 126 of the communication device 130. [0036] In alternate embodiments, the user interface module 124 may prompt the user to conduct a biometric registration such as, but not limited to, eye scan, fingerprint scan and the likes.
[0037] In another alternate embodiment, registration of a new user may be a combination of filling-up questions by the user and biometric registration.
[0038] In an alternate embodiment, in response to the user providing consent on the communication device 120, the processing unit 130 of the communication device 120 may retrieve the credentials of the user from other sources such as, social media platforms. Further, the processing unit 130 can retrieve the credentials of the user from other remote devices of the user such as, apple watch, fit bit, etc.
[0039] The user can be any user/organization intending to manage a plurality of personas within a single social network system, thereby to ensure the data of the user is kept confidential.
[0040] In an embodiment, the communication link 132 is a communications channel that connects two or more devices over the communications network 140, herein mainly the communication device 120 and the application server 102, for the purpose of data transmission. The communication link 132 may be a dedicated physical link or a virtual circuit that uses one or more physical links or shares a physical link with other telecommunications links.
[0041] At step 304, pursuant to establishment of the communication link 132, the application server 102 generates a profile of the user at a storage unit in response receiving identity particulars of the user from the communication device from the communication device 120 via the transceiver 128 and stores it at the memory 108. In an alternate embodiment, the storage unit 110 may store the profile of the user. The storage unit 110 may be utilized as a dedicated storage means to store profiles of plurality of users of the social network.
[0042] In an embodiment, the profile stored at the storage unit of the application server may be tagged to a unique identifier and may be stored along with only the unique identifier on the storage unit 110 or the memory 108, thereby maintaining anonymity of the user without having to disclose the name of the user to whom the profile belongs to. Advantageously, preventing any data leak of profiles in the event the data is hacked. Further, the processor 106 of the application server 106 may be configured to transmit the unique identifier of the user’s profile to the communication device 120.
[0043] In an embodiment, once the user profile is generated and stored at the application server 102, if the user intends to log-in to the profile, the processor 106 authenticates the user by various modes, such as but not limited to, using log-in details such as password and user name and biometric authentication.
[0044] In general, the word “module,” as used in the present disclosure, refers to logic embodied in hardware or firmware, or to a collection of software instructions, written in a programming language, such as, for example, Java, C, or assembly. One or more software instructions in the modules may be embedded in firmware, such as an EPROM. It will be appreciated that modules may comprised connected logic units, such as gates and flip-flops, and may comprise programmable units, such as programmable gate arrays or processors. The modules described herein may be implemented as either software and/or hardware modules and may be stored in any type of computer-readable medium or other computer storage device.
[0045] Further, while one or more operations have been described as being performed by or otherwise related to certain modules, devices or entities, the operations may be performed by or otherwise related to any module, device or entity. As such, any function or operation that has been described as being performed by a module could alternatively be performed by a different server, by the cloud computing platform, or a combination thereof.
[0046] At step 306, at least one sub-profile of the user is generated by the application server and stored at the storage unit within the profile of the user in response to receiving at least one topic of interest and corresponding one or more user preferences from the user via the user interface module on the communication device. The sub-profile representing a specific persona of the plurality of personas of the user aligned with the at least one topic of interest and the corresponding one or more user preferences In an exemplary embodiment, once the user logs-in to the profile, the user is directed to a capture interest webpage as shown in Fig. 4. The capture interest webpage may be one of, but not limited to, a drop-down menu, various fields arranged in one of, but not limited to, vertical and/or horizontal manner. The capture interest webpage will display a list of topics of interest.
[0047] In an embodiment, the term “webpage(s)” is an interface that is generated on the display 122 of the communication device 120 if the user interface module 124 is installed and the communication link 132 is established between the communication device 120 and the system 100. Each webpage generated displays various options/settings to the user to customize the profile.
[0048] In an embodiment, the list of topics of interest may be broadly classified into private, public, work, live local and circles, which can be classified as one of, but not limited to, business and Industry, entertainment, family and relationships, fitness and wellness, food and drink, fashion, politics, travel, vehicles, sports and outdoors, technology and gadgets, art and literature and hobbies.
[0049] The user is required to select at least one topic of interest from the list of topics of interest and save the selected topics of interest. Each topic of interest that the user selects indicates a specific persona of the user out of the plurality of personas in the real physical world.
[0050] Once the user selects at least one topic of interest from the list of topics of interest, the same is automatically stored after a pre-defined time period or the user is required to manually save it.
[0051] In response to the saved data of the at least one topic of interest of the user, the processor 106 of the application server generates a corresponding sub-profile for each topic of interest as selected by the user. For instance, a sub-profile is generated for the topic of interest family which is a private sub-profile as shown in Fig. 4. In this sub-profile, interactions between the user and the one or more acquaintance may be personal in nature. The user may intend to have multiple sub-sub profiles based on the nature of interactions within the private sub-profile. For example, in the private sub-profile itself, the user may intend to have one sub-profile for interactions between parents and another sub-profile for interactions with the wife and kids. In this regard, based on topics of interest by the user, the processor 106 generates multiple sub-sub profiles in the private sub-profile. Further, multiple user preference setting options may be provided by the system 100 such as, but not limited to, payment methods, health prescriptions of the family members can be selected by the user. Based on the user preferences as selected by the user from the multiple preference setting options which were provided by the system 100, the system 100 may set the selected personalized preferences for each of the sub-profiles under the private sub-profile category. There may also be multiple user preference setting options such as, but not limited to suggesting to the user to be part of circles as per the topics of interest as selected by the user.
[0052] Further, a business sub-profile may be generated which is a work subprofile based on the topics of interest as selected by the user. The work sub-profile may provide the preference setting options such as, but not limited to, a suite of prebuilt engagement solutions, productivity workflows, productivity through mobile access to enterprise portals and systems, back-end points and synchronizing across devices and enable secure file sync and file sharing option.
[0053] Further, an entertainment sub-profile may be generated which is a public profile based on the top of interest as selected by the user. The public sub-profile may provide preference setting options such as, but not limited to, share information, talents, create live event, intuitive feeds based on topics of interest, creating polls, making announcements, news feed, integrating micro-apps to create and manage content.
[0054] Further, based on the user providing information on the current location of the user and topic of interest, the system 100 automatically accesses the location of the user on the go using a mapping module, the processor 106 may suggest multiple user preference setting options such as, but not limited to, different live-local webpages access to the user which are near-by and/or live based on topics of interest such as, but not limited to, entertainment, travel, gas station, local supports of micro and small business. [0055] In an embodiment, multiple sub-sub-profiles may be generated within the sub-profile by the user depending on at least one of, but not limited to, the user’s preferences, topics of interest and near-by location.
[0056] In an embodiment, the sub-profiles may be stored at at-least one of the storage means such as but not limited to, the storage unit 110, the memory 108 depending on the implementation by creating a digital vault. Further, to provide quick access control to the user, a copy of the sub-profiles may also be stored at a cache memory of the communication device 120.
[0057] Once the sub-profiles are generated, the processor 106 will update each sub-profile with respect to at least one of, but not limited to, registered communication devices, preferences of the user, update location of the user for live local feature, etc.
[0058] At step 308, the application server determines a match of characteristics of the at least one sub-profile of the user with one or more circles present within the social network. In an embodiment, the step of match of characteristics determination includes the steps of: retrieving, the at least one topic of interest from the sub-profile and thereafter checking, for similar topics of interest as broadcasted by the one or more circles by matching the at least one topic of interest of the sub-profile with the similar topics of interest of the one or more circles utilizing a learning catalogue including synonyms, numerals, slang, phonetic data and tree relationship identifiers.
[0059] At step 310, the application server adds, the at least one sub-profile of the user to the one or more circles based on a successful match of the characteristics. Steps 308 and 310 are explained hereunder with examples for better clarity.
[0060] In an embodiment, the processor 106 provides suggestions to the user to be added to various circles based on the at least one topic of interest as retrieved by the processor 106 from the sub-profile selected by the user. In response to which, the processor 106 may add the user to various circles automatically and/or pursuant to consent by the user such as but not limited to, celebrities, foods, drinks, politics, etc. The processor 106 adds the users to various circles based on conducting a match of characteristics determination of the topic of interest with similar topics of interest as broadcasted by the one or more circles and/or groups. Based on the added circles, the content of the specific sub-profile may be updated automatically.
[0061] In an embodiment, the match of characteristics determination of the at least one sub-profile of the user with the one or more circles present within the social network, comprises the steps of: retrieving, the at least one topic of interest from the sub-profile; and checking, for similar topics of interest as broadcasted by the one or more circles by matching the at least one topic of interest of the sub-profile with the similar topics of interest of the one or more circles utilizing a learning catalogue. The learning catalogue includes a plurality of lists of synonyms, numerals, slang, phonetic data and tree relationship identifiers. The learning catalogue constantly keeps learning newly created synonyms, numerals, slang, phonetic data and tree relationship identifiers from constantly monitoring the social network and also third party social network systems and sources. For example, if the topic of interest as received by the user at the time of generating the sub-profile is related to Tennis, the catalogue present with the application server checks for similar topics of interest as broadcasted by various circles of the social network. Checking for similar topics of interest as broadcasted by various circles is based on synonyms, slangs, numerals, phonetic data and the tree relationship identifiers.
[0062] In an embodiment, the synonyms tool of the catalogue as the name suggests may look for similar meanings of Tennis such as ‘court paume’.
[0063] Similarly, checking for numerals may include the numerals tool of the catalogue checking for similar topics of interest such as 40-40, which in tennis means ‘deuce’.
[0064] Similarly, checking for slang may include slang tool of the catalogue checking for similar topics of interest such as ‘top spin’ which is a way to hit a tennis ball.
[0065] Similarly, checking for phonetic data may include the slang tool of the catalogue checking for similar topics of interest such as “tenhis” which also sounds like tennis. [0066] Similarly, checking for the tree relationship identifiers may include the tree relationship identifiers tool of the catalogue checking for similar topic of interests which may be directly and/or indirectly related in the nature of a tree to tennis such as ‘Roger Federer’ who is a well-known tennis player.
[0067] In view of the above, the application server constantly checks for similar topics of interest aligned with the topic of interest of the user in relation to the subprofile the user.
[0068] Further, the application server may also suggest other circles which may be remotely relevant to the user based on a broader category of the topic of the interest of the user. For example, if the topic of interest of the user is tennis, the application server may suggest the circle related to cricket, based on an assumption that the user is interested in sports. Therefore, the application server constantly learns the topics of interest of the user and suggests various circles based on a combination of the user’s topics of interest and also based on the user’s future actions to consider the suggestions by the application server to be added to the circle. For example, if the user’s topic of interest at the start was tennis and the application server suggests cricket as the circle to be added to and the user considers the option and performs the future action of joining the cricket circle based on the suggestion, then the application server may suggest circles such as, Sachin Tendulkar and Dravid since the user considered the option to be added to the circle cricket. Advantageously, the system 100 ensures that the user is added to multiple circles thereby facilitating the user to be socially visible and/or aware across the social network.
[0069] In an embodiment, the match of characteristics determination of the at least one sub-profile of the user with the one or more circles present within the social network is performed utilizing character recognition techniques which are well known in the art.
[0070] Further, if the location setting of the specific sub-profile is set to be automatically updated, the same can be updated if the user is on the move with the communication device 120. [0071] Further, based on the user preferences as selected by the user for the specific sub-profile, the processor 106 performs necessary actions as per the preferences such as but not limited to, post content to forums, circles and members, save logs and activities of the user on the sub-profile.
[0072] At step 312, the application server arranges the plurality of sub-profiles in a searchable format to one of, allow the user and suggest the user, to one of add and remove one or more acquaintances to the at least one of the profile and the subprofile by generating a searchable home directory path therein of a home directory including list of one or more acquaintances.
[0073] In an embodiment, the user can search on a home directory webpage in order to add the one or more acquaintances to the sub-profiles that are generated. The user can search the sub-profile members based on one of, but not limited to, by the one or more acquaintances public posts, member profile image, tagged photos, etc.
[0074] In an embodiment, the user on selecting an option to invite, the processor 106 automatically imports the contact list and/or home directory from other social network platforms of the user. The process is done by the processor 106 by generating secured communications links between third party social network systems and the system 100 to invite the members from the contact list and/or home directory from therein.
[0075] In another embodiment, in response to the user providing permission to the system 100, the processing unit 130 of the communication device 120 or the processor 106 of the application server 102 may suggest the user to add the one or more acquaintances to the sub-profiles based on scanning through the contact list of the user stored in the communication device 120 and thereafter simultaneously checking on the system 100 whether the same contact list is present therein. Similarly, the processing unit 130 or the processor 106 may import the contact list and/or home directory from other social network platforms of the user by setting up secured communication links between the system 100 and the other social network platforms. However, it is to be understood that only contact list and/or home directory of the user from other social network platforms can be imported and not third-party user’s contact list and/or home directory. This is achieved by implementing appropriate fire-walling techniques and filtering solutions by the system 100 and is restricted to appropriate user preferences pre-set by the user either in system 100 or communication device 120.
[0076] In an embodiment, the processor 106 or the processing unit 130 can prompt/suggest the user to add members to specific sub-profiles based on at least one of, but not limited to historic behavioral logic/parameter.
[0077] In an embodiment, the historic behavioral parameter may be pre-set in nature such as, but not limited to, historic interaction of the user with the members. Historic interaction can be one of but not limited to, frequency of the calls from the user to the one or more acquaintances, content of messages, etc. For example, if the user has stored the one or more acquaintances on speed dial and/or frequently calls the one or more acquaintances and/or messages in a specific fashion, due to which the processor 106 may set a threshold to identify the one or more acquaintances as a close acquaintance and therefore suggest/prompt the user to add the one or more acquaintances to the family sub-profile. In addition, the threshold and behavioral parameter may be more complexly set such that the processor 106 may analyze the historic interaction of the user with the members and even suggest/prompt the user to add the one or more acquaintances to multiple sub-sub profiles belonging to the subprofile, such as suggesting the member to be added to wife and kids sub-sub profile, close friends sub-sub profile, etc. Further, as and when the user adds one or more acquaintances to the contact list of the user’s communication device 120 or on other social network platforms, a real time suggestion is provided by the processor 106 to import the same on the communication device 120. In other words, the importing task is an ongoing process. However, it is to be understood that the option of prompting user to add the one or more acquaintances to the sub-profiles only occurs when the user provides permission to the system 100 to periodically monitor the physical and/or virtual behavior of the user. [0078] It is well understood in the art that like other social network platforms, addition of the members to the sub-profiles is not complete until the members accept the request to be added therein.
[0079] Further, it is well understood in the art that the user can edit each of the sub-profiles during the course of activity within the social network system 100. The editing option may be at least one of, but not limited to, adding biodata, photos, editing photos, permission and/or privacy settings, payment methods, etc. Further, as and when the user log-in to the profile, a public webpage is displayed which provides an overview to the user of the various sub-profiles as shown in Fig 5. The user may consume preferred content and connect to respective feeds which are displayed publicly or privately. If the user is not a new user, then user’s historic browsing details may also be displayed on the main profile of the user and/or sub-profiles of the user.
[0080] At step 314, the application server, dynamically changes the one or more user preferences based on receiving instructions from the user via the user interface module to switch from the current sub -profile to a choice of the sub-profile of the user. In an embodiment, the processor 106 flushes a cache memory relevant to the current sub-profile and reloads the user data applicable to the selected specific subprofile. Thereafter, in case of any updated data in the specific sub-profile, the same is updated at the storage unit 110 and/or the memory 108. Advantageously, ensuring that seamlessly the sub-profiles are switched, thereby ensuring the data privacy is maintained with respect to each of the sub-profiles. Advantageously, data from one sub-profile to the other is not leaked. In other words, when there are multiple subprofiles and each sub-profile’s associated sub-sub profile, there exists numerous user preference settings and associated data for each of these sub-profiles and managing these user preference settings during switching from one sub-profile to another is seamlessly performed by the system 100. For example, if the user has a sub-profile with user preference settings of audio and/or video call for family, and has user preference settings of no video call and only audio call allowed for the work subprofile, the system 100 ensures that when the user switches from family sub-profile to the work sub-profile, the video call option is automatically and seamlessly disabled in real time. The response time to switch between the sub-profiles and the respective shift in the preference settings is minimal. Advantageously, the system 100 is flexible enough to make necessary implementation changes to ensure that the response time is negligible or non-existent.
[0081] Further, in case there are any further activities by the user such as, but not limited to, deleting the specific sub-profile, adding new members, log-out from the profile, etc. the same will be updated by the processor 106. Thereafter, in case the user switches to a new specific sub-profile, the processor again flushes the data and reloads the data of the new specific sub-profile seamlessly.
[0082] Fig. 4 illustrates an exemplary high-level logic flow system architecture for managing a plurality of personas of a user. The logic flow system architecture can be implemented within the environment of Fig. 1 and system 100 of Fig. 2 of the present disclosure. The system architecture of Fig. 4 may include network, web application firewall (WAF) security systems, unified threat management (UTM) techniques to monitor the data flow restrictions for the user access to the system via the communication device 120. Such security measures may be connected to API and other related protocols or algorithms for ensuring that the modes of interaction preferences as set for the various sub-profiles are performed securely. The modes of interaction preferences may be one of, but not limited to, audio and video calls and chats. Further, Catching and Log Management services (CLMS) may be implemented within the system 100 to manage the log-in functionality of multiple users registered with the system 100. Further, biometric authentication can be implemented in the communication device 120 and/or the processor 106 may send instructions to the communication device 120 to perform the biometric authentication or validation.
[0083] Further, combination of but not limited to, various software development frameworks, programming languages, AI/ML algorithms, BoT engines, Syndication APIs, API gateways and other whitelisted third party web services may be implemented to generate micro applications that carry out functionalities such as but not limited to, chats, calls, feeds, streams, digital wallets, payments and functional web-services accessible within various sub-profile representing various personas of the user as per user selection.
[0084] An application cluster engine may facilitate in switching from one subprofile to another based on the persona of the user. Based on the sub-profile switch, a cache engine ensures that the data is flushed and new data is loaded based on the selected sub-profile with associated persona. The cache engine may be connected to an indexing database (DB) cluster to ensure seamless with minimal response time to switch from one sub-profile to another sub-profile and at the same time ensuring that preferences set for each of the sub-profile is maintained and not compromised. Advantageously, compared to the existing multiple social network systems where the data is shared between each other is prevented in the present invention.
[0085] Further, a notification engine may be implemented to provide notifications to the user of any activity within each sub-profile of the social network system.
[0086] Any streaming services of the user profile may be facilitated by implementing a transcoding engine and a multipoint control unit.
[0087] Any media generated and/or viewed is managed and stored at a unified distributed storage system.
[0088] Few of the technical advantages of the present invention are as illustrated below:
-Unified system that enables digital interactions, consumption of information in a manner similar to the real physical world through digital abstractions called ‘Personas’ that user can switch to consume and control sharing of information.
-Since all the sub-profiles are integrated into a single social network system, data privacy is maintained which is the most valuable asset at present.
-Seamless switch between two or more sub-profiles of the user and accordingly maintaining preferences of the user intact and ensuring no data leak.
-A single social network system where multiple functionalities can be integrated, thereby saving time and money for the user in maintaining various tasks. -Unlike other social network system, there are no news/feed/posts that are displayed to the user based on historic browsing behavior.
-Since, a single social network system which manages various profiles/sub- profiles of the user, the user is not required to maintain duplicity of data spread across multiple social networks. Instead only one social network will maintain the data of the user spread across multiple profiles of the user, advantageously ensuring reduction of data storage.
[0089] While aspects of the present invention have been particularly shown and described with reference to the embodiments above, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various additional embodiments may be contemplated by the modification of the disclosed machines, systems and methods without departing from the scope of what is disclosed. Such embodiments should be understood to fall within the scope of the present invention as determined based upon the claims and any equivalents thereof.
