The SIM card 20 receives the pass secure information 25b from the client terminal 12 and converts the secure format 25b to the original format i.e. profile management instruction set 25a. Converting the secured format profile management instruction 25b to original format 25a includes removal of an encryption layer from the secured profile management instruction set 25b and convert into original format 25a.
[00049] The embedded client application module 22 of the SIM card is configured by the profde management instruction 25b to discover an address 26 of an SMDP+ system 15, to obtain the profile package 9. To discover the address 26 of an SMDP+ system 15, the client application module 22 requests an SMDS system 14 to provide the corresponding address of the SMDP+ system 15.
[00050] Thereafter, the SIM card establishes communication with the SMDP+ system and requests to obtain the profile package 9, through request 11. The SMDP+ system 15 is configured to transmit the profile package 9 based on request 11 to the client application module 22 of the SIM card 20. The profile package installing instructions is transmitted to the eUICC core 23 of the SIM card 20, by the client application module 22.
[00051 ] In some embodiments of the present invention, the profile management instruction set 25a may have instructions to perform local profile management, for example, disable the already downloaded profile on the SIM Card 20 and/or enable an already installed profde on the SIM Card 20.
[00052] As indicated in block 140, client application module 22 may send the profile management instructions execution status, to application server 18 to change the status of SIM card 20 on the application server 18, for example, post successfully downloading the profile package 9 and passing to eUICC Core 23, the client application 22 may send back successful status to application server 18 which application server 18 may use to mark the profile download and/or available and/or installed against the SIM Card 20 in the application server 18 repository.
[00053] Reference is also made to FIG. 4, which is another schematic illustration of an exemplary communication sequence 400 for local profile management instructions, according to an embodiments of the present invention. In this embodiment application server 18 may communicate and send the profile management instructions 29a to client application module 22 in a secured format 29b via client terminal 12.
[00054] The application server 18 is configured to convert the profile management instruction to another secure format known as pass secure information 29b. The client terminal receives the pass secure information 29b, and transmits the pass secure information 29b to the SIM card 23. The SIM card 20 receives the pass secure information 29b from the client terminal 12 and converts the secure format 29b to the original format i.e. profile management instruction set 29a.
[00055] Converting the secured format profile management instruction 29b to original format 29a includes removal of an encryption layer from the secured profile management instruction set 29b and convert into original format 25a. The SIM card i.e. the configures the client application module 22 to transmit the profile management instructions 29a to the eUICC Core 23. The eUICC executes the profde management instructions and transmits a change in profde status, as a result of execution of profde management instructions 29a to the application server. The transmission of change in profde status is performed by the client application module 22 [00056] Reference is also made to FIG. 5, which is another schematic illustration of an exemplary communication sequence 500 for pairing of application server 18 and SIM Card 20, according to some embodiments of the present invention. In this process, three distinct stages are described and marked with reference numerals 1-3.
[00057] In this embodiment of the present invention, SIM card 20 may communicate with application server 18 to generate an encryption key pair. The encryption key pair comprise of, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) key pair, Triple Data Encryption Algorithm (TDES) key pair, a Ri vest- Shamir- Adleman (RSA) key pair or any other suitable public key encryption system.
[00058] The key pair, for example a private key, may be generated and/or stored, for example, by SIM card 20 and/or provided to client application module 22. Application server 18 may receive public key 27b from SIM card 20. The communication between Client application module 22 and application server 18 may be performed over a secured channel, by using the generated keys. The secured channel, can be such as a secured internet protocol channel, a secured Bearer Independent Protocol (BIP) channel, Short Message Service (SMS) message and/or any other suitable secured channel.
[00059] First, as shown at la and lb, pairing status of SIM Card 20 and application server 18 is checked from the application server 18 by the client application module 22. The pairing of the application server 18 and client application module 22 is based in the encryption key pair disclosed above.
[00060] Secondly, the transmitted keys are verified as being the same keys as exchanged at the time of pairing, each time the client application module is reset. If the step of Key pairing has not been performed, then as a second stage, if not already generated or pre-personalised, as disclosed in the previous paragraphs the SIM may generates a plurality of possible keys and an integrated circuit card identifier (ICCID) or eUICC identifier (EID) of the SIM card 20 is read.
[00061] Thirdly, the SIM Card 20 registration is performed and sent to the application server 18 with the public key 27b or the seed to generate the possible keys. During this stage, as shown at 3a and 3b, information on the SIM Card is gathered and registered with the application server 18. The following items are included in a request sent in 3a:
[00062] ICCID and/or EID of the SIM Card;
[00063] Seed for the generation of the possible key(s) or public key;
[00064] Then, application server 18 receives the 3a items and SIM Card 20 registration is performed on the application server 18. Now, as shown at 3b, a confirmation is sent upon successful registration of the SIM Card 20.
