Abstract
The present invention relates to a data migration system (1) by TDMF product for carrying out a data migration process more safely and quickly by TDMF (Transparent Data Migration Facility) that provides a continuous data migration by directing data input/output between source and target storage transparently.
Description
A DATA MIGRATION SYSTEM BY TDMF PRODUCT
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a data migration system by TDMF product for carrying out a data migration process more safely and quickly by TDMF (Transparent Data Migration Facility) that provides a continuous data migration by directing data input/output between source and target storage transparently.
Background of the Invention
Interruptions experienced in data migration may cause effects creating serious problems such as loss of income and not being able to use important applications. A data migration process by TDMF provides a higher accuracy and application availability in data during migration process by enabling comprehensive and continuous data portability for preventing data loss. A system for carrying out a data migration process more safely and quickly by TDMF is not available in the state of the art.
Given the studies and the deficiencies in the state of the art; it is understood that there is need for a system for carrying out a data migration process by TDMF more safely and quickly.
The United States patent document no. US6145066, an application in the state of the art, discloses a system comprising a transparent data migration facility to accomplish data migration from one location to another in the system automatically. The said system includes a main module to control the start of a session wherein programs use the source volume and the data accessed from the source, migrate the
source volume from the target volume to the data volume and end the migration session. The application programs use the data received from the target volume and targeted. The data migration program includes a unit module to control the units during the migration session. The data migration program includes a copy module to control the copying of data from the source module to the target module during the migration session. The data migration program includes a monitor module to monitor I/O transfers to the data volumes during the migration sessions. The computer system may have a plurality of operating systems associated with instances of the data migration program which allows for concurrent data migrations. The plurality of instances of the data migration program may also be controlled in a master slave relationship. A migration session may include a plurality of migration phases such as activation, copy, refresh, quiesce, synchronize, redirect, resume and termination phases.
Summary of the Invention
An objective of the present invention is to realize a data migration system by TDMF product for carrying out a data migration process more safely and quickly by TDMF that provides a continuous data migration by directing data input/output between source and target storage transparently.
Detailed Description of the Invention
“A Data Migration System by TDMF Product” realized to fulfil the objective of the present invention is shown in the figure attached, in which:
Figure 1 is a schematic block diagram of the inventive system.
The components illustrated in the figure are individually numbered, where the numbers refer to the following:
1. System
2. Data list
3. Server
The inventive data migration system (1) by TDMF product for carrying out a data migration process more safely and quickly by TDMF that provides a continuous data migration by directing data input/output between source and target storage transparently, comprises:
- at least one data list (2) which will be migrated by TDMF;
at least one server (3) which is configured to detect accumulated data (spool volume), to control equality of source and target data numbers, to carry out transaction according to data types and to realize preparation and termination of tasks by analysing the list of input data.
The service channel (2) included in the inventive system (1) is configured to indicate the data group to be migrated by TDMF. The data list (2) is configured to provide a data list input for the server (3). The server (3) included in the inventive system (1) is configured to manage the data migration process by TDMF. The server (3) is configured to detect the type of data to be migrated by controlling the data list (2). The server (3) is configured to end the data transfer process and to request update of the data list (2) by removing the said data type from the data list (2), in the event that the type of data detected is a data characterized as“spool volume”. The server (3) is configured to control the equality status of source and target data numbers. The server (3) is configured to control the availability status of a repetitive data in the data list (2). The server (3) is configured to provide users with an information and to end the migration transaction in the event of detecting at least one of the cases where the source and
target data numbers are not equal or there is a repetitive data in the data list (2). The server (3) is configured to create a task for migrating the related data set by another method in the event of detecting a data set comprising any specific data type in the data list (2). The server (3) is configured to detect data comprising local page data sets. The server (3) is configured to prepare the commands that will enable to put local page data sets out of use. The server (3) is configured to detect the data comprising common or PLPA (Portable Linux Processor Affinity) data sets, to warn the user about migration of these data on their own and to end the transaction. The server (3) is configured to warn the user and to end the process in the event that data comprising dual data set are detected. The server (3) is configured to proceed to the next step if it confronts no problem at the step of analysis of input data. The server (3) is configured to proceed to the step creating the agent task by automatically detecting all systems other than the system that is originally determined in multiple systems before the migration transaction is initiated. The server (3) is configured to add this system to the agent task if a new system is added to multiple systems with auto-detect feature. The server (3) is configured to create a main task and run an extra step if the task step conducting the migration transaction does not end as error-free. The server (3) is configured to write the task output at the extra step to a data set and to analyse this data set. The server (3) is configured to detect that data and display it, in the event that a problem occurs in migration of any source data. The server (3) is configured to carry out migration transaction by calling an existing TDMF panel. The server (3) is configured to create a data input task for the purpose of reassigning a data serial number to source data that have a data serial number changing after migration. The server (3) is configured to carry out input transaction by disabling the data in all systems at first. The server (3) is configured to make the data online again in all systems. The server (3) is configured to call scenario for the purpose of accelerating the transaction of making online and offline. The server (3) is configured to receive the operation numbers of data as input by the called scenario and to order them. The server (3) is configured to carry out transaction of making online and offline with the minimum
number of command possible by detecting sequential operation intervals after the ordering transaction. The server (3) is configured to prepare a related code and to end the process by getting that data into use again if a data comprising a local page data set is detected before migration.
With the inventive data migration system (1) by TDMF product; necessary transactions are prepared or the process is ended by warning the user when any data against which an action must be taken is encountered, upon analysing an input data list.
It is possible to develop various embodiments of the inventive system (1); the invention cannot be limited to examples disclosed herein and it is essentially according to claims.
