Abstract

A card (20.1, 20.2), an identification system, an access control system and a system for facilitating a financial transaction. The card (20.1, 20.2) includes a biometric reading arrangement which has a biometric iris scanner which is configured to capture biometric identification information of a user (100.1, 100.1 ) and/or a biometric finger vein scanner which is configured to capture biometric identification information of a user (100.1, 100.1). The systems include a reader module configured to receive biometric identification information of an iris of a card user (100.1, 100.1), which has been captured by an iris scanner of a card (20.1, 20.2), and/or biometric identification information of a finger vein of the card user (100.1, 100.1), which has been captured by a finger vein scanner of the card (20.1, 20.2). The systems also include an identity verification module configured to compare the received biometric identification information with stored biometric identification information of an iris and/or finger vein of a particular person (100.1, 100.1 ) which is associated with the card (20.1, 20.2), and confirm a positive biometric match.
