The image processing and control unit (4) may receive two different timing information, namely, beginning time of the commercials and beginning time of the program. The timing information is identified and transmitted to the counter (5) by the image processing and control unit (4) The counter (5) starts the countdown. When the counter (5) completes the countdown, the control unit (6) provides the execution of the tasks of changing the channel, sending a notification, switching the television to standby or activating the energy saving mode as predetermined by the user.
In an embodiment of the present invention, when the counter (5) completes the countdown to the beginning of the commercials, the control unit (6) provides the execution of the task of switching the television to standby as predetermined by the user. The timing information is sent by the channel just before the beginning of the commercials. The timing information detected by the image processing and control unit (4) is transmitted to the counter (5) and the counter (5) starts counting down. When the counter (5) completes the countdown, the control unit (6) automatically activates the standby mode during the commercials. Thus, the device is enabled to consume minimal amount of energy during the commercials.
In an embodiment of the present invention, when the counter (5) completes the countdown to the beginning of the commercials, the control unit (6) enables the energy saving mode to be activated as predetermined by the user. Consequently, energy saving is provided during the commercials.
In an embodiment of the present invention, when the counter (5) completes the countdown to the beginning of the commercials, the control unit (6) enables the task of changing the channel to be executed as predetermined by the user. The beginning time of the commercials identified by the image processing and control unit (4) is transmitted to the counter (5). When the countdown is completed by the counter (5), the control unit (6) detects that the commercials start and changes the channel.
In an embodiment of the present invention, when the counter (5) completes the countdown to the beginning of the program, the control unit (6) enables the task of sending a notification to the user to be executed as predetermined by the user. Before the beginning of the program viewed, the remaining time information transmitted by the channel appears on the display screen (2). The timing information detected by the image processing and control unit (4) is transmitted to the counter (5) and the counting down is started. When the countdown to the beginning of the program is completed, a notification is sent to the user by means of the control unit (6). Thus, the user is enabled to be informed of the end of the commercials on the program he/she was viewing while he/she views other channels during the commercials.
In an embodiment of the present invention, when the counter (5) completes the countdown to the beginning of the program, the control unit (6) enables the task of automatically changing back to the initial channel to be executed as predetermined by the user.
