Description
APPARATUS FOR THE POWER SUPPLY OF HEATED ARTICLES OF CLOTHING
Technical Field
The present invention relates to an apparatus for the power supply of heated articles of clothing.
Background Art
Heated articles of clothing are known, particularly used by drivers of motorcycles or similar vehicles, adapted to heat one or more parts of the body in case of low outdoor temperatures.
Such articles of clothing can be composed of jackets, vests, gloves, pants, footwear or other and generally comprise an internal electrical circuit having heating elements, such as resistances or the like, suitably arranged at several points to heat different parts of the driver's body.
The power supply of the electrical circuit can be implemented in different ways. In particular, the electrical circuit can be powered by a special rechargeable battery positioned or positionable inside a chamber on the article of clothing itself.
As an alternative, the electrical circuit can have special wires to be connected to the battery of the vehicle or, if the vehicle is so equipped, special connectors to be inserted into corresponding power outlets on the vehicle itself.
These known heated articles of clothing do, however, have some drawbacks. In fact, if there is a dedicated power battery, it is in any case necessary to carry out repeated operations for charging the battery itself.
In addition, the battery has limited autonomy that could not be enough to heat one or more articles of clothing during long trips.
In the event of the electrical circuit being connected to the battery of the vehicle by means of special wires or connectors, on the other hand, continuous manual connection and disconnection of the circuit is required.
This operation, therefore, can be inconvenient and annoying for the driver, particularly if the latter must repeatedly get on and off the vehicle during a journey.
To this must be added that the connection of the wires of the electrical circuit
directly to the battery of the vehicle is not always simple and immediate to carry out and may require special technical skills on the part of the operator.
The patent document EP 2 679 075 Bl describes an apparatus for the power supply of heated articles of clothing comprising first electrical connection means associated with the power supply of a vehicle and second electrical connection means associated with an electrical circuit for heating a heated article of clothing and associable with the first electrical connection means. The first electrical connection means comprise a first and a second contact element defined at two distinct portions of the vehicle and associated with the positive pole and with the negative pole respectively, of the power supply of the vehicle itself, while the second electrical connection means comprise a third and a fourth contact element defined at two distinct portions of the heated article of clothing and positionable at the first and second contact element respectively, for the electrical connection of the electrical heating circuit with the power supply.
Specifically, the third contact element and the fourth contact element comprise a support element of the electrically conductive portion, having an extremity associated with a respective cuff of a jacket of the heated clothing, and adapted to be extended from the cuff and positioned at the palm of the hand of the driver of the vehicle.
However, this known solution is also susceptible of improvements, intended in particular to obtain a heated article of clothing which is more comfortable for the user.
Description of the Invention
The main aim of the present invention is to devise an electric apparatus for heated articles of clothing, usable in particular on motor vehicles or the like, which allows improving comfort for the user.
Another object of the present invention is to devise a heated article of clothing for motor vehicles or the like which allows to overcome the mentioned drawbacks of the prior art within the ambit of a simple, rational, easy, effective to use and affordable solution.
The above mentioned objects are achieved by the present electric apparatus for
heated articles of clothing according to the characteristics described in claim 1. Brief Description of the Drawings
Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become better evident from the description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of an electric apparatus for heated articles of clothing, illustrated by way of an indicative, but non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, wherein: Figure 1 illustrates an example of clothing comprising gloves with second electrical connection means of the apparatus according to the invention;
Figure 2 partly illustrates a motor vehicle with the handles of the handlebar having first electrical connection means of the apparatus according to the invention.
Embodiments of the Invention
These figures show a preferred embodiment of the apparatus 1 , 4 for the power supply of heated articles of clothing according to the invention, described below, which is applied to a conventional motor vehicle 3 and to heated articles of clothing 6, 7, 8, 9 commonly used by motorcyclists.
Different embodiments of the apparatus 1, 4 applied to different vehicles and for different heated articles of clothing cannot however be ruled out.
The apparatus 1, 4 according to the invention, e.g., can be applied to vehicles such as snowmobiles or to special transport apparatuses such as lifts or the like and, anyway, in any situation in which one must be warm.
The apparatus 1 , 4 comprises a device installable on a motor vehicle and having first electrical connection means 1 connected to the power supply 2 of a conventional motor vehicle 3, constituted by an electric battery of the type commonly installed on motor vehicles or the like.
The apparatus 1, 4 also comprises second electrical connection means 4 connected to the electrical heating circuit 5 of heated articles of clothing and associable with the first electrical connection means 1.
With particular reference to Figure 1, the heated articles of clothing comprise gloves 6, a jacket 7, trousers 8 and footwear 9.
The electrical heating circuit 5 is of the type commonly employed and comprises heating elements not shown in the figure, of the type of electrical
resistances or the like, positioned in different areas of the articles of clothing. The electrical heating circuit 5 of each of the articles of clothing can be connected to that of the other articles of clothing by means of suitable electrical connectors 10.
Advantageously, the apparatus 1, 4 comprises an electronic supply circuit 18 associated with the power supply 2 and having automatic adjustment means 19 of the current supplied, adapted to automatically adjust the temperature of the heated article of clothing 6, 7, 8, 9.
In particular, the electronic supply circuit 18 is positioned between the power supply 2 and the first electrical connection means 1.
The presence of the automatic adjustment means 19, therefore, allows adjusting in real time and in an optimal way the temperature of the heated article of clothing 6, 7, 8, 9, thus considerably improving comfort for the user during the use of the motor vehicle 3.
With particular but not exclusive reference to the embodiment illustrated in the figures, the electronic supply circuit 18 is positioned between the battery 2 and the first and second contact element 11 and 12.
In particular, these automatic adjustment means 19 can be implemented by means of a special electronic circuit and/or a special software program created inside the electronic supply circuit 18.
Advantageously, the apparatus 1, 4 can comprise a temperature sensing device 20 operatively connected to the electronic supply circuit 18 and adapted to send to the automatic adjustment means 19 the detected environment instantaneous temperature value.
Conveniently, the temperature sensing device 20 can be positioned inside of the heated article of clothing 6, 7, 8, 9.
For example, as illustrated in the figures, it can be positioned at a section of one of the sleeves of the jacket 7.
The use of temperature sensing devices 20 in a different number and with a different positioning cannot however be ruled out. For example, the electronic supply control unit 18, and therefore the automatic adjustment means 19, could be operatively connected to an already present temperature sensing device and
installed on the motor vehicle 3.
As an alternative to (or in combination with) the use of a temperature sensing device 20, the apparatus 1 , 4 can comprise an electronic communication device, schematized in Figure 2 and indicated with reference numeral 21, operatively connected to the automatic adjustment means 19 and having receiving means 22 of the temperature values from at least one remote unit 23.
Moreover, according to a further possible embodiment, the apparatus 1, 4 comprises a software program 24 installable on an external communication device 25 and operatively connectable to said automatic adjustment means for sending at least a temperature value.
Specifically, the external communication device 25 can be composed of a conventional mobile device, e.g. of the type of a smart phone, a smart watch or a tablet, while the software program 24 can be implemented by means of an application installable on the mobile device.
Advantageously, moreover the electronic supply circuit 18 comprises detection means 26 adapted to detect the residual charge of the battery 2 of the motorcycle 3.
In particular, the detection means 26 are operatively connected to the adjustment means 19 for adjusting the temperature of the heated article of clothing 6, 7, 8, 9 depending on the detected residual charge.
This way, in the event of the battery 2 being almost dead, it is possible to adequately reduce the consumption by the electrical heating circuit 5 of the heated article of clothing 6, 7, 8, 9.
The first electrical connection means 1 comprise a first contact element 11 and a second contact element 12 defined at two distinct portions of the motor vehicle 3 and connected to the positive pole and to the negative pole respectively, of the electronic supply control unit 18 of the vehicle itself.
This way, the electronic supply control unit 18 adjusts the current supplied to the second electrical connection means 4 of the heated article of clothing by means of the first electrical connection means 1.
With particular reference to the embodiment of the apparatus illustrated in the figures, the first and second contact element 11 and 12 are composed of suitable
metal foils formed along a portion of the gripping knobs 13 of the handlebar of the motor vehicle 3.
The second electrical connection means 4 comprise a third contact element 14 and a fourth contact element 15 defined at two distinct portions of one of the articles of clothing and positionable in support at the first contact element 11 and at the second contact element 12 respectively, for the electrical connection of the electrical heating circuit 5 to the battery 2.
With particular reference to the embodiment of the apparatus illustrated in the figures, the third contact element 14 and fourth contact element 15 are made at the cuffs of a jacket 7 of the heated clothing.
In particular, both the third contact element 14 and fourth contact element 15 comprise a support element of an electrically conductive portion of the type of a conductive metal foil or the like.
In particular, each of the support elements can be preferably formed by means of a strip of fabric (flap), having an extremity fixed to the inside of the cuffs of the jacket 7.
These strips of fabric are adapted to be extended from the cuff and to be positioned at the palms of the hands of the driver of the vehicle, with the conductive foil turned outwards.
This way, when the driver, after having extracted the two strips of fabric to position them at the palms of the hands, gets on board of the motor vehicle and grasps the knobs 13, the electrical heating circuit 5 of each of the articles of clothing is connected to the electronic supply circuit 18, which in turn is connected to the battery 2 of the vehicle 3.
Different embodiments of the apparatus cannot however be ruled out.
For example, the third and the fourth contact element 14 and 15 can be made of appropriate metal foils formed along a portion of the palm of the gloves 6.
This way, when the driver, after wearing the gloves 6, gets on board of the motor vehicle and grasps the knobs 13, the electrical heating circuit 5 of each of the articles of clothing is connected to the electronic supply circuit 18, which in turn is connected to the battery 2 of the vehicle 3.
Alternatively, the first contact element 11 and the second contact element 12
can be made at two resting portions of the feet of the driver of the motor vehicle, e.g. on a scooter footrest or the like, while the third contact element 14 and fourth contact element 15 can be made at the soles of the footwear 9 of the heated clothing.
The first electrical connection means 1 also comprise a pair of first connecting wires 16 between the first contact element 11 and the second contact element 12 and the positive and negative poles of the battery 2, by interposition of the electronic supply circuit 18.
The second electrical connection means 4 also comprise a pair of second connecting wires 17 adapted to connect the third contact element 14 and the fourth contact element 15 to the electrical heating circuit 5 of the other heated articles of clothing.
Advantageously, moreover, the electronic supply circuit 18 is adapted to supply an initial low current, at the time of the connection of the third contact element 14 and fourth contact element 15 with the first contact element 11 and second contact element 12.
The presence of the electronic supply circuit 18 allows avoiding, in particular, electric sparks phenomena that would be annoying for the driver of the vehicle 3.
Advantageously, the apparatus 1, 4 according to the invention can comprise at least a luminous element 27 positionable at at least one portion of the heated clothing 6, 7, 8, 9.
Such at least a luminous element 27 is adapted to make the driver more visible, particularly during night driving.
In particular, such a luminous element 27 can be composed of at least a low- consumption LED or a similar device.
For example, according to a possible embodiment illustrated in Figure 1, the apparatus 1, 4 can comprise a plurality of luminous elements 27 suitably positioned at distinct portions of the jacket 7.
The use of a different number of luminous elements 27 cannot however be ruled out, as well as the positioning of the luminous elements themselves at different positions on the gloves 6, on the jacket 7, on the trousers 8 and/or on the
footwear 9.
In case of the presence of one or more luminous elements 27, the electronic supply circuit 18 can have command means of each luminous element 27, adapted to command their switching on, switching off and/or light intensity. In particular, these command means can be implemented by means of a special control software and hardware.
Conveniently, each luminous element 27 is connected to the electrical heating circuit 5 and, therefore, is powered by the battery 2 of the vehicle.
Advantageously, moreover, the apparatus 1, 4 can comprise at least a rechargeable battery 28 positioned at at least one portion of the heated articles of clothing 6, 7, 8, 9 and connected to the electrical heating circuit 5 of the clothing itself.
Conveniently, the rechargeable battery 28 allows to ensure the supply of each luminous element 27 even in case of disconnection of the first electrical connection means 1 from the second electrical connection means 4, e.g. if the driver temporarily detaches his/her hands from the handlebars.
For example, this function can be very useful in order to make the driver identifiable at night (or in any case in situations of poor visibility) the moment he/she stops the vehicle and moves far away from it.
It has in practice been ascertained that the described invention achieves the intended objects.
In particular, the fact is underlined that the presence of the automatic adjustment means allows automatically adjusting the temperature of the article of clothing which can be heated according to the temperature and weather of the external environment, thus greatly improving the comfort for the user of the vehicle.
