Abstract

Each elevator (100) ride has a unique identifier (130). The passenger may have a personal device (120), such as a smartphone interacting with the elevator (100). A smartphone application (127) may receive the unique identifier (130) and send it to a media service (140). The passenger is identified and information (151) relating to the passenger's interests may be selected and presented to the passenger during the elevator ride. One object of an embodiment may be to provide personalized information to the passenger of the elevator ride.

Description

ELEVATOR MEDIA BACKGROUND
An elevator is a suitable location for presenting information to the passengers of the elevator. Examples of information that may be provided to the passengers are textual or graphical notifications, voice, music, short movies, advertisements or infotainment. The passenger may be subjected to random information that does not correspond to his or her personal interests.

Each elevator ride has a unique identifier. The passenger may have a personal device, such as a smartphone interacting with the elevator. A smartphone application may receive the unique identifier and send it to a media service. The passenger is identified and information relating to the passenger' s interests may be selected and presented to the passenger during the elevator ride. One object of an embodiment may be to provide personalized information to the passenger of the elevator ride.
According to other embodiments, a method, an elevator media device, a system and a media service is described .
Many of the attendant features will be more readily appreciated as they become better understood by reference to the following detailed description considered in connection with the accompanying drawings. The embodiments described below are not limited to implementations which solve any or all of the disadvantages of known display systems.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Reference will now be made in detail to the embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
At least one of the afore-mentioned implementation examples offers one or more solutions to the problems and disadvantages of the known prior art. Other technological benefits of the present invention become evident to a person skilled in the art from the following description and the claims. The numerous examples of implementing the present invention achieve only a part of the presented advantages. None of the advantages is critical to the examples of implementation. Any required embodiment can technically be combined with any other required embodiment. The examples represent only a few advantageous embodiments and they do not limit the idea of the invention that can be implemented even in other manners within the framework of the claims presented further below. Fig. 1 is a schematic illustration of one example of the system disclosed herein. One aspect discloses a method for an elevator, wherein information is presented to the passenger. An elevator car 100 comprises a media device 110. The media device 110 is in one example connected to an information network IP, such as the Internet. The media device 110 may be connected to a node comprising the interface to the Internet. The media device 110 may comprise a display 111, a speaker 112, at least one processor 113 and a memory 114. The media device 110 may be integrated to an elevator car operating panel or it may be a separate device arranged into the elevator car 100.
A passenger of the elevator has in this example a personal device 120. In one example the personal device 120 is a smartphone or a device connectable to a network and configured to run application programs. The personal device 120 may comprise an interface 121 supporting a near field communication (NFC) functionality, for example: WiFi, Bluetooth, BTLE, ZigBee, RFID or Dash7 technology. In one example, the personal device 120 comprises elements to connect to the Internet directly; in one example, the personal device 120 is connected to a node configured to connect to the Internet. In one example, the personal device 120 comprises a camera 122. In one example, the personal device 120 comprises a user interface 123, at least one processor 124 and a memory 125 and a set of instructions stored in the memory 125. Examples of the set of instructions are the operating system and an application program 127.
In one example, the media device 110 is configured to assign a unique identifier 130 to an elevator ride. The unique identifier 130 may be constructed from the elevator car 100 serial number and a time stamp. The unique identifier may comprise the location information of the elevator and/or the elevator car 100. The elevator ride may comprise the duration of the elevator car 100 being in place at a starting floor, the duration of the travel to the destination floor and the duration of the elevator car 100 being in place at the destination floor. The unique identifier 130 may be assigned for example when the passenger reacts to the information from the media device 110 or to each elevator ride. In one example the unique identifier 130 is created when the passenger calls the elevator car 100 by pressing the call register button on the Destination Operating Panel or by any other call method, a smart phone, RFID or NFC.
In one embodiment, the media device 110 sends the unique identifier 130 to the personal device 120 by transmitting the unique identifier 130 via a wireless beacon 115. The personal device 120 may detect the beacon 115 and receive the unique identifier 130 via the wireless interface 121. In an embodiment, the personal device 120 runs an application program 127 configured to receive a unique identifier. In an embodiment, the unique identifier 130 is transmitted to the personal device 120 as a visual code that the camera 122 of the personal device 120 captures from the display 111 of the media device 110. One example of the visual code is a QR code. As an example, the passenger may be interested in the information provided by the media device 110 and capture the QR code as a reaction to the interest. In an embodiment, the identity of the passenger is not captured without the consent of the passenger. The passenger may choose to hide the identity or to reveal the identity. In one example, the personal device 120 is configured to send a data item 126 related to the identity of the passenger to a media service 140. In one embodiment, the personal device 120 sends the data item 126 to the media device 110, wherein the media device 110 also sends the unique identifier 130 to the media service 140. In one embodiment the media service 140 creates the unique identifier 130 and transmits it to the media device 110.
The media service is 140 in this example configured on a computer that resides in a cloud computing environment. The media service 140 comprises at least one processor 141 and a memory 142 and a set of instructions stored in the memory 142. In one example, the media service 140 is configured on a local server residing near the elevator or in the same building as the elevator. The media service 140 is configured to receive the unique identifier 130 and the data item 126 related to a passenger of the elevator ride. The media service 140 is configured to identify the passenger as a response to the data item 126, for example by requesting the information from at least one social media service 150. The request may be sent to multiple social media services. In an embodiment, the data item 126 comprises the identity information. In one embodiment, the data item 126 comprises information about the social media service
150 that may parse the data item 126 to the passenger's identity. The data item 126 may identify a group of persons or a role. In one embodiment, the media service 140 detects the identity of the passenger from the data item 126.
The social media service 150 comprises information about the passenger's interests. The social media service is 150 in this example configured on a computer that resides in a cloud computing environment. The media service 140 receives a first piece of information 151 from the social media service 150. In an embodiment, the first piece of information
151 comprises information about the passenger's interests. The media service 140 uses the first piece of information 151 to request media data 143. The media service may be implemented in the social media service 150, in the media service 140 database or in a third party database or service. The media data 143 is transmitted to the media device 110 in the elevator car 100, wherein the media device 110 presents the information to the passenger during the elevator ride.
In one embodiment, the personal device 120 is configured to run an application program 127, wherein the application program 127 receives the unique identifier 130 from the media device 110 and sends the unique identifier 130 and the data item 126 to the media service 140. For example, the media device 110 may beacon the unique identifier 130 which the personal device 120 receives. In one embodiment, the personal device 120 is configured to run an application program 127 detecting a passenger reaction to the media data 143. The application program 127 may register when the passenger sees the information from the personal device 120 or interacts with the personal device 120 to obtain additional information as a response to the information presented on the media device 110. The passenger may select a feature from the personal device 120 or the passenger may touch a touch screen of the media device 110. In one embodiment, the application program 127 is configured to send a report of the passenger' s reaction to the media service 150. One aspect discloses an elevator media device connected to an information network, comprising at least one processor and a memory storing a set of instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to: assign a unique identifier to an elevator ride; present the unique identifier to a personal device of the passenger; receive media data relating to the identity of the passenger from a media service; and present the media data. In an embodiment, the elevator media device comprises sending the unique identifier to the elevator as a radio beacon transmission. One aspect discloses a system comprising: an elevator having a media device connected to an information network, a personal device of a passenger of the elevator, wherein the personal device comprises a wireless interface for connecting to the information network; at least one social media service connected to the information network; a media service connected to the information network; the media device comprising at least one processor and a memory storing a set of instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to assign a unique identifier to an elevator ride and send the unique identifier to the media service; the personal device comprising at least one processor and a memory storing a set of instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to: send a data item related to a passenger to a media service; the media service comprising at least one processor and a memory storing a set of instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to: request the identity of the passenger as a response to the data item, request a first piece of information related to the passenger from the at least one social media service, and request media data comprising the first piece of information from a media database, send the media data to the media device; and the media device comprising the set of instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to present the media data during the elevator ride. One embodiment comprises the set of instructions of the personal device, when executed, causing the processor to run an application program, the application program receiving the unique identifier from the media device and sending the unique identifier and the data item to the media service. One embodiment comprises the set of instructions of the personal device, when executed, causing the processor to run an application program, the application program detecting a passenger reaction to the media device and sending a report of the reaction to the media service. In one embodiment, the elevator media device comprises a wireless interface configured to send the unique identifier to the elevator as a radio beacon transmission. In one embodiment, the elevator media device comprises a display configured to send the unique identifier by displaying a visual code.
One aspect discloses a media service comprising at least one processor and a memory storing a set of instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to: receive a unique identifier for an elevator ride from an elevator media device, receive a data item related to a passenger of the elevator ride from a personal device of the passenger, request the identity of the passenger as a response to the data item, request a first piece of information related to the passenger from at least one social media service, request media data comprising the first piece of information from a media database, and send the media data to the elevator media device. In an embodiment, the media service comprises the set of instructions, when executed, causing the processor to: receive a report from the personal device of the reaction to the media data. In an embodiment, the media service comprises the set of instructions, when executed, causing the processor to: receive a report from the personal device of the reaction to the media data .
It is obvious to a person skilled in the art that with the advancement of technology, the basic idea of the invention may be implemented in various ways. The invention and its embodiments are thus not limited to the examples described above; instead they may vary within the scope of the claims.
For a person skilled in the art, it is obvious that numerous modifications and variations can be made to the method, the elevator media device, the system or the media service. Other embodiments and exemplary implementations become evident to a person skilled in the art on the basis of the specification and practice related to the equipment and method described. The purpose is that the specification and the examples be regarded only as exemplary, so that the following patent claims and their equivalents show the actual scope of protection.

Claims

1. A method comprising:
an elevator having a media device;
the media device assigning a unique identifier to an elevator ride and sending the unique identifier; a media service receiving the unique identifier; the media service receiving a data item related to a passenger of the elevator ride from a personal device of the passenger and identifying the passenger as a response to the data item,
requesting a first piece of information related to the passenger from at least one social media service, requesting media data comprising the first piece of information from a media service; and
presenting the media data on the media device during the elevator ride.
2. A method according to claim 1, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the personal device running an application program receiving the unique identifier from the media device and sending the unique identifier and the data item to the media service.
3. A method according to claim 1 or 2, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the personal device running an application program detecting a passenger reaction to the media data.
4. A method according to any of the claims 1 to 3, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the personal device running the application program sending a report of the reaction to the media service.
5. An elevator media device connected to an information network, comprising at least one processor and a memory storing a set of instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to:
assign a unique identifier to an elevator ride; present the unique identifier to a personal device of a passenger;
receive media data relating to the identity of the passenger from a media service; and
present the media data.
6. An elevator media device according to claim 5, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by sending the unique identifier to the elevator as a radio beacon transmission .
7. An elevator media device according to claim 5 or 6, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by sending the unique identifier to the elevator as a visual code.
8. A system comprising:
an elevator having a media device connected to an information network,
a personal device of a passenger of the elevator, wherein the personal device comprises a wireless interface for connecting to the information network at least one social media service connected to the information network,
a media service connected to the information network,
the media device comprising at least one processor and a memory storing a set of instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to assign a unique identifier to an elevator ride and send the unique identifier to the media service; the personal device comprising at least one processor and a memory storing a set of instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to:
send a data item related to a passenger to a media service;
the media service comprising at least one
processor and a memory storing a set of instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to:
request the identity of the passenger as a
response to the data item,
request a first piece of information related to the passenger from the at least one social media service, and
request media data comprising the first piece of information from a media database,
send the media data to the media device; and the media device comprising the set of
instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to present the media data during the elevator ride.
9. A system according to claim 8, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the set of instructions of the personal device, when executed, causing the processor to run an application program, the application program receiving the unique identifier from the media device and sending the unique identifier and the data item to the media service.
10. A system according to claim 8 or 9, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the set of instructions of the personal device, when executed, causing the processor to run an application program, the application program detecting a passenger reaction to the media device and sending a report of the reaction to the media service.
11. A system according to any of the claims 8 to 10, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the elevator media device comprising a wireless interface configured to send the unique identifier to the elevator as a radio beacon transmission.
12. A system according to any of the claims 8 to 11, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the elevator media device comprising a display configured to send the unique identifier by displaying a visual code.
13. A media service comprising at least one processor and a memory storing a set of instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to:
receive a unique identifier for an elevator ride from an elevator media device,
receive a data item related to a passenger of the elevator ride from a personal device of the passenger, request the identity of the passenger as a
response to the data item,
request a first piece of information related to the passenger from at least one social media service, and
request media data comprising the first piece of information from a media database, and
send the media data to the elevator media device.
14. A media service according to claim 13, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the set of instructions, when executed, causing the processor to:
receive a report from the personal device of the reaction to the media data.
15. A media service according to claim 13 or 14, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the set of instructions, when executed, causing the processor to: receive a report from the personal device of the reaction to the media data .
