Abstract

A system of identifying complimentary hotel toiletries according to a standard, internationally recognized color code. Shampoo may be indicated with red, conditioner may be indicated with blue, body wash may be indicated with white, body lotion may be indicated with tan, body soap may be indicated with red on a white background, and other types of toiletries may be likewise indicated with a standard color. This allows a user to quickly identify various types of toiletries regardless of the location of the hotel, the language of the writing on the toiletries, or whether the user's vision is compromised such as by steam or by not wearing corrective lenses in the shower.

Description

COLOR CODED TOILETRY SYSTEM
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Cross Reference.
[0001] This application is based on and claims priority to U.S. Application No. 14/727,400 filed on June 1, 2015.
Field of the Invention.
[0002] This invention relates generally to a system of identification for toiletries, and more particularly, but not by way of limitation, to a system of identifying complementary hotel shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, bar soap, and other toiletries using a standard color scheme.
Description of the Related Art.
[0003] Hotels often provide guests with complementary toiletries, such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, and bar soap. These products are typically small and vary from hotel to hotel. A label identifying the hotel and the product is typically included thereon, but is correspondingly small with small print, making identification of the product difficult at a glance, or even upon inspection if the user has limited vision. The bottles and their labels are typically of consistent design across the product line, exacerbating the identification problem. For example, the shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion are often contained in bottles of the same shape with labels of the same design, with the exception of the wording identifying the product. This is a particular problem when the user is showering, as the steam from the shower can obscure the user's vision. Furthermore, users with corrective lenses may not be wearing their corrective lenses in the shower. Finally, this problem is increased when a traveler is in a country that speaks a language with which the traveler is unfamiliar, as the traveler may be unable to read the description of the product on the label, regardless of any vision problems.
[0004] Bar soap is not immune from this problem. While it is not contained in a bottle like other toiletries, it is often contained in a box. Other complementary items, such as shower caps and sewing kits, are often contained in similar boxes, making identification of the soap box difficult at a glance.
[0005] Other color coded systems are used for similar situations. In particular, faucets are often marked with red for hot water and blue for cold water.
[0006] Based on the foregoing, it is desirable to provide a system of color coding for hotel toiletries. [0007] It is further desirable for such a system to allow a user to identify various standard toiletries, such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, and bar soap, at a glance.
[0008] It is further desirable for such a system to be standardized, such that a user can identify various toiletries using the same color code at hotels of various brands worldwide.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0009] In general, in a first aspect, the invention relates to a system of identifying complimentary hotel toiletries, the system comprising a set of one or more complimentary hotel toiletries, where each of the one or more complimentary hotel toiletries is in a container, and an identifying area on each container, where the identifying area bears a designated color according to a standard color code. The standard color code may comprise a first designated color for shampoo; a second designated color for conditioner; a third designated color for body wash; a fourth designated color for body lotion; a fifth designated color for body soap; or a combination thereof. The first designated color may be red; the second designated color may be blue; the third designated color may be white; the fourth designated color may be tan; and/or the fifth designated color may be red writing on a black background.
[0010] The set of complimentary hotel toiletries may comprise shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, body soap, or a combination thereof. The container may be a bottle, box, or wrapper. Each of the containers may be small, such as holding one fluid ounce or less. The containers may be disposable and suitable for one-time use. The designated area may be writing on the container or on a label on the container. At least one of the containers may be a bottle and the designated area on the bottle may comprise a lid, either with or without also comprising writing on the bottle or on a label on the bottle.
[0011] The standard color code may be internationally recognized.
[0012] Stated another way, a system of identifying complimentary hotel toiletries may comprise: one or more sets of complimentary hotel toiletries, each set comprising shampoo in a bottle, conditioner in a bottle, body wash in a bottle, body lotion in a bottle, and body soap in a box or wrapper; each bottle comprising a lid and writing on the bottle or on a label on the bottle; and each box or wrapper comprising writing on the box or wrapper or on a label on the box or wrapper. The lid and writing on every shampoo bottle may be red, the lid and writing on every conditioner bottle may be blue, the lid and writing on every body wash bottle may be white, the lid and writing on every body lotion bottle may be tan, and the writing on the body soap box, wrapper, or label may be red on a white background. [0013] The sets of complimentary hotel toiletries may be offered at more than one hotel. At least one of the more than one hotel may be owned by a different company than at least one other of the more than one hotel. Likewise, at least one of the more man one hotel may be located in a different country that at least one other of the more than one hotel.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0020] The devices and methods discussed herein are merely illustrative of specific manners in which to make and use this invention and are not to be interpreted as limiting in scope.
[0021] While the devices and methods have been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be noted that many modifications may be made in the details of the construction and the arrangement of the devices and components without departing from the spirit and scope of this disclosure. It is understood that the devices and methods are not limited to the embodiments set forth herein for purposes of exemplification.
[0022] In general, in a first aspect, the invention relates to a system of identifying complementary hotel toiletries according to a standard color code. Each bottle, box, wrapper, or other container may have at least one identifying area with a designated color. The identifying area may be a bottle lid, writing, a specific shape or area on the container, or a combination thereof. Additionally or alternately, the contents of each container may be the designated color. The identifying area on each product in a set may be the same; for example, all products in a set may have the lid as the identifying area. A set of products may include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, bar soap, one or more other toiletries, or any combination thereof.
[0023] The designated color for shampoo may be red, while the designated color for conditioner may be blue. The designated color for body wash may be white, and tan or yellow may be used for the designated color for body lotion. Bar soap may be indicated with the designated color code of red writing on a white background. [0024] The bottle, box, or other container may be small and disposable, as is typical for complementary hotel toiletries. Additionally or alternately, the same color code may be used on full size bottles for retail sales. The bottle, box, or other container may be any desired shape, size, or color and may have any desired decoration, so long as the designated color for each product is consistently used.
[0025] The designated color code may be used internationally for consistency and to allow travelers worldwide to identify complementary hotel toiletries quickly and easily regardless of language differences or vision limitations, or just for ease of use.
[0026] Figures 1 through 5 shows an example of a set of complimentary hotel toiletries using the color code. Shampoo bottle 1, conditioner bottle 2, body wash bottle 3, and body lotion bottle 4 are all bottles, while the bar soap container 5 is a box or wrapper. The identifying areas in the Figures include the bottle lids 6 and writing 7. These identifying areas use the designated color code set forth above. Thus, a user can quickly and easily identify the contents of each container using only the color of the identifying areas.
[0027] Whereas, the devices and methods have been described in relation to the drawings and claims, it should be understood that other and further modifications, apart from those shown or suggested herein, may be made within the spirit and scope of this invention.
